Well duh, why don't you upgrade to OS X instead of using 1-9?

It'll also run the battery down much quicker. It's faster because it doesn't underclock the Cpu, which os x does aggressively since they can't sell laptops with 1.5 hours battery life (that's being generous)
>>
>>54085643
It does actually underclock the CPU, currently running at 800Mhz
>>
>>54085643
>>54085587
arch runs like a dream and with good battery if configured correctly, shame it's such a batch to set up
>>
Mac OS can't run on MacBooks, I would hope Windows 10 is faster.
>>
>>54085665
>shame it's such a batch to set up
How? After a few times, it's pretty easy. I wrote down a list of commands so I don't have to remember the exact order, and so I don't forget anything.
>>
>>54085587

HFS+ can only access one file at a time, that's why.
>>
>>54085680
it's not, you're just talking to an average mac user
>>
>>54085697
Ah, gotcha.
>>
>>54085665
HOW??
How on earth?
I have arch linux dual boot on my macbook pro mid 2010 and I only have awesome window manager installed. If I open up chormium the fans start blowing and the battery drains within 1.5 hours

Indeed OP. Thank you based Microsoft for making my shitty 2010 MacBook Air run decently again.

>>54085643
I get the same battery life.
>>
>>54085680
sure after a few times, I only did it once and I ran into a lot of problems, specifically because it was a mac and there were issues with the fan and so on
>>
If you have a Core Duo Mac, OSX is useless on it. All the browsers are out of date. Windows 10 has all the latest browsers and drivers.
>>
>>54085742
I had a similar issue until I came across a forum post about a rogue process which killed cpu usage
have you done this fix? if not I'll post the link if I can find it

>>54085587
i thought i was crazy for thinking the same.

i have an old as fuck Macbook from 2007, been running Capitan for about 4 months and last week decided to install Win 7 64 bits and the improvement in performance is quite noticeable.

This just confirmed the maymay assumptions that Apple actually implements planned obsolecence with software updates, same shit happened to my iphone years ago, an iPhone 4s that suddenky performed like absolute crap after updating it to iOS 7 i believe it was.

NEVER AGAIN APPLE.

OSX is objectively a steaming pile of shit in battery management.

The only way Windows does worse is when paired with literal 17" maxed out CPU/GPU quad SSD RAID EXTREME GAYMIN LAPTOP.
>>
>>54085697
it is difficult, there are a few blog posts where people have installed on Mac to follow, but there are a number of fixes you need to do to get the fan to work and to stop the cpu shitting itself
>>
>>54085905
>a few
please, there's so many. Macs aren't some fucking chinese ghetto laptop you're trying to install windows onto here, plenty of people own them, use them and do exactly that on them.

And please, configuring something on windows is dead easy, not that it's hard on linux but you actually have to activate a few brain cells sometimes.

Just about anything should be better than MacOS
>>
>>54085881
No I have not yet done this fix yet. Thanks I would appreciate it!.
>>
>>54086087
Even if newer releases are called Mac OS, 10.11 will remain OS X just like 10.5 is still Mac OS X
>>
>>54085643
this is how Intel mobile chips work not so much Windows or OS X

battery life is better because of several reasons, speedstep isn't made by Apple
>>
>>54085643
The main reason OS X has slightly better battery life is called Safari.

If you use for example Chrome on both OS X and Windows there is almost no difference.
>>
>>54085900
nah Apple laptops have the best battery life usually, better than most anyway
>>
Fun fact: If the battery in the 15" MacBook Pro was any higher capacity it would be illegal to fly with in the US, which is odd because iirc the FCC law states per battery, wouldn't each LiPo pouch count as a battery?

COMPLETELY TRUE!!!!!!!!

No, entirely false. For at least Firefox and SeaMonkey, if not some derivatives as well, the same .app will run on 32-bit and 64-bit machines.

>>
>>54086472
It's a browser, up to date, and supports 32-bit OS X.
>>
Actually I've read that Apple makes sure their older products run slower on their newest soffware, to force people to buy new ones.
Microsoft has no interest in making macbook owners want to upgrade, so Windows runs normally on them.

It's just Apple's planned obsolescence policy with older devices.
>>
>>54086641
Meanwhile El Capitan runs beautifully on my 2008 iMac

They admitted it themselves recently, when they presented their environmental policy:

>Apple has said that it expects so-called first owners of iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches to replace them after only three years of use, and Mac computers only four

Kinda. No reason for an SSD to be that hot. It should be 40ºC at most.
>>
>>54086232
They do that just by putting in bigger batteries than the competition, not through magic efficiency improvements.
>>
>>54085996
>It's a macbook air
You should be, when anything goes over 80°c it'll start deforming. THE FUCKING SSD IS AT 60°C, HAHAHAHAHA APPLE CAN'T GO ANY LOWER NOW BAHAHAHAHA.
>>

Where did you get a macbook, pajeet?

Can I set up custom gestures on Windows 10 so I don't have to even use the keyboard most of the time?

In Boot Camp, my 2013 rMBP13 gets 12 hours, while it only gets 6-7 Max on El Cap, web browsing with Safari.

Just ran CrystalDiskMark for a few minutes and was able to get the SSD up to 80 C.

Is it going to die?

You most likely have the Samsung SSD, their PCIe SSDs are notorious for running extremely hot.
The 4x models throttle at 110ºC on PCs.
