How does this make you feel?

That's pretty cool but you should try Gentoo, it's actually really good.
>>
wow a whole 4096 colors! So much better than Linux in 2016 ...

Microsoft had better software in 2002 than Microsoft has in 2016. How does this make you feel?

Video Toaster owned back in the day

more a hardware limitation... if the older programs could be re-written to use the frankenmachines most amiga holdouts use, you'd get a solid 24-32b color

Are you trying to revise history?

That sexy robot had titties, they didn't show them.
>>
I have never understood Amigafags
>>
>>54078207
Really sad, its a prime example how business can kill innovation and hinder progress.
Amiga was decades ahead of time, ahead of MS, IBM, Apple - everyone. Commodore fucked up and much more inferior systems won over market.
>>
>>54078843

Inferior systems won. Just like inferior iOS and Android beat Symbian which was years ahead in terms on features and performance.
>>
>>54078895
>>54078950
Network effects. The most powerful enemy of a better system is something that already exists that's good enough.
>>
>>54078836
are you actually trying to imply that the Amiga had a stronger professional software base than either DOS or the Macintosh outside of niche media production which that platform was pretty much entry-level in anyway?
>>
They were big in the UK which is the United Kuckdom... need I say more

anyway on to the real point, a big reason people bought Amigas was to emulate a Macintosh with them because they used the same 68k architecture. An Amiga emulating a Mac using Shapeshifter could run 68k Mac code faster than a real mac could.
>>
>>54080927
It actually was pretty big in the UK. I know a couple of blokes who still have their Amigas. But then again the hardware market here was always a bit weird.
>>
>>54078207
same for NeXTSTEP
(and osx today since it is nextstep with a cool theme)

tfw the only girl friend you had was an OS's name in spanish

ahahahahaha you can't make this shit up. Linuxtards are either retarded or just too insecure.

You can still buy new computers running Amiga OS 4.1

http://acube-systems.biz/shop/
>>
>>54081414
Or you could emulate much faster Amiga hardware on a much cheaper PC.
>>
>>54078950
I really liked Symbian as well. Especially all these exploits that remained without a fix, which could brick your phone.
>>

Wow, what a shitpost!
I can't believe you went out of your day to make this magnificent post. I can't even imagine what your schedule is like in the day! What hard WORK you put off JUST to make that post! If you looked yourself in the mirror right now, you'd see your magnificent post! I can't believe you actually made a great shitpost. Thank you for this post. This definitely made my day more worthwhile than it already is. Maybe it even made my day more than it made yours! Haha. Upvoted, good sir. Here, have some Reddit karma and gold. You deserved it. Thank you for your time, and have a wonderful day to you, good sir!
>>
>>54081157
And how about that sweet, sweet 68k processor? You sure can't beat that, can ya LINCOCKS? HAHAHAHA. What a bunch of fags those people are, using their Pentium 4s and their Celerons while we have the new, hip, and COOL 68k processor! Haha! You can't beat that, Linuxfags.

Give up, freetards. Bow down to your new masters of the computer realm.

MS-DOS in general has copied the AMIGA / AMIGA os and failed badly.. and yes linux is way better then Windos.. Mac is a pc period ,, now with closed source linux period. you want better get amiga classic. You guys had your chance with true 32bit ..true 64bit.. ,but blew Amiga off .Then the Itanium which by the way in 2003 is true 256bit in each core ,and 64 cores..Yet, you love the PARIsc ,but hate the ITANIUM ..dah thats what it is.. The you guys blew off the PS3..guess what thats an AMIGA clone.. you know its sad sad, you wouldnt be in this bs world of problems , and liars if you would be using amigas. Oh yeah the new vr and halo lens is again done by AMIGA in 1986. AMIGA invented in 1979. Inc in 1982.. Apple copied amiga. mac=pc=xboxone=ps4=8bit
>>
>>54080927
Didn't the UK barely had any Amigas with hard disks?
>>
>>54078950

Just like shitty vhs. Superior technology always lose because of shitty marketing. Either people arent ready for it yet or competing companies have way too much money to throw at marketing.
>>
>>54083776
They were too expensive for most home users, certainly until the final days of the a1200/4000
>>
>>54083819
was there a competitor to VHS with better image quality that was also recordable and had at least equal run time? people cared more about run time than picture quality
>>
>>54083866
Yes, it was called video 2000
>>
>>54083881
>4 hours per side, later 8 hours per side
pretty good, at first i wondered why i hadn't heard of it, but;
>they were marketed exclusively in Europe, South Africa, Brazil, and Argentina.
good job, philips. how did that even happen when their audio cassette format was so popular?
>>
>>54083983
Yep. Thats the problem. Philips and their catastrophic management. They literally wrote a book called kortsluiting about all the shitty decisions they made.

Philips could have been bigger than Sony but instead they pissed everything away. Today Philips consumer electronics is nothing but a husk of what it used to be pre 90's.

my mum still to this day records tv shows on VHS to watch later and fastforward through ads, she'd love 16 hour tapes
>>
>>54084316
i still do this
i literally have 40+ tapes in my room right now

>>

nowadays i torrent tv shows, have software set up to find/download/rename/serve it all
my mum uses 3 VCR's and has cupboards full of tapes (certainly more than 40)

Hey, Amiga had a compositing wm in fucking 1987.
Linux is still struggling to get it right.
>>
>>54084423
speaking of tv, i really wanted to start a capping group of "secondary" OTA tv channels; channels that aren't the main local channel. what's keeping me back is the fear of a webhost checking through the websites and finding that mine is a pirating website, which would be shut down
should i still do it?
>>
>>54078865
Probably because you were only born in the late 90s, after the company went bust.
>>
>>54083776
Had an A1200 in early/mid 90s. Mine didn't come with a hard disk. Hard disks were expensive for fuck all storage. People today are spoilt by how cheap vast storage is.
>>
>>54084487
Reminder that Commodore went bankrupt trying to sell the Amiga, and only neckbeards and autists use it nowadays.
>>
>>54084517
I'm German and Amigas with hard disks were pretty common here.
I still have my old A600HD and A1200HD.
>>
>>54084535
I got the "desktop dynamite" for Christmas 1992. So might have been a case that that specific bundle didn't come with an HDD. There were a couple of different bundles. But I got the dynamite bundle because it came with a couple games. Dennis the Menace and Oscar from memory.
>>
>>54084497
you could either host it from a VPS in a country that doesn't care, or host it as a tor hidden service (a tor hidden service is only accessible with tor)
>>
>>54084621
what are some countries that "don't care"?
>>
>>54084747
idk, russia? i'm not currently running such a service, so i haven't looked into it
i'd probably just do a tor hidden service myself, unless i need more bandwidth/better latency
>>
>>54083315
>exploits that remained without a fix, which could brick your phone.

LIES. IT WAS THE MOST SECURE OS. ALL APPS HAD TO BE OFFICIALLY SIGNED BY NOKIA. THIS IS WHY NSA HAD TO DESTROY IT.

Isn't it amazing how 30 years ago computers were used to create all these cool stuff with such limited hardware? now the average toiletbook has 50 times the power of the amiga2000 and all we do with them is shitposting and porn

GET IT TOGHETER GUYS
>>
>>54083758
is this like a pasta
or do amigatards really believe this shit
either way that was utterly awful to read and you should consider gruesome suicide for posting it
>>

Commodore as far as hardware went were god-tier back in the day. Shame MicroShite and there army of MicroTarded sheep outnumbered them.

What sort of computing utopia would we have had if Commodore had survived?.
>>
>>54085745
Hey, don't forget Apple.
All their very successful marketing and getting American schools on their side, made their monochrome crap machines more popular in the States.

At least PC gave you cheap reverse-engineered knockoff components.

i had an Amiga 600 as a kid and i never knew such an OS exists

probably didnt even run on my old amiga .. i only used it to play games .. like a console

i remember this fucking screen produced this meme electricity and you could put your fingers into it and it tickled me

probably got me some brain damage thats why im here
>>
>>54085745
the same garbage we have now but with a different shitty inefficient proprietary platform
>>
>>54085800
They were also pretty much the only microcomputers worth a shit for graphics and desktop publishing from a peripheral and software availability standpoint.
