Per a thread I saw on /spg/ I got APN settings to work for Xiaomi phones with Band 41 (or other applicable bands) to connect to LTE data on US CDMA carriers and MVNO's like boost/virgin/ringplus/freedompop/ting (since they aren't able to be activated as easily on these services as GSM carriers).
For anyone interested all you do is put in your active sim into phone, go to sim settings and configure APN per your carrier's settings found from google. This only gives you data and not calling, but you can use VOIP/google voice/SIP apps. From searching miui forums it looks like the native SIP feature for calling is broken and doesn't allow for outgoing calls to 10-digit numbers without them calling you first; an appended IP address is needed to connect the call.

Yes, its using a lower end SoC than a top of the line. The performance is very good, but its not great. Bragging about performance on a middle of the road device is kind of dumb considering the performance competition. Thats why you buy it, it is cheaper than last years top of the line shit, which would be the rough performance comparison.

I only have the Piston 3 for like a week with a pair of KZ ED9 on the way, they sound good to my liking. I can set the volume to 10 whereas with my old free earbuds (something by ASUS that look like the Piston 3) I had to set it to 16.
I'm no audiophile sorry if I'm not able to go into much detail about it, I only bought the ED9 out of curiosity and personal comparison.

It's also not the same if you can make multiple transactions with discounts, only one of which being that $5 one (yes, this will be the case on Aliexpress if you spend $500, you can actually get "real" bulk order discounts for very realistic economic reasons).
