Even in this case it's going to be mostly subjective regarding how big it is and how long the cable is. The only objective measurement is the speed of the bus.
PCI bus is 100% objective because there is nothing but the speed.
Also note that I didn't say that peripherals aren't hardware. I only said that there is very little to review for peripherals in comparison to computer internals.
