i3 is what I've been using. It's fantastic, except for a small few minor greivances I've obtained with it - key word "minor". I've been meaning to try bspwm: I'd said this in a previous thread earlier today (I believe today? Perhaps yesterday, if not.)
Tiling WMs are absolutely fantastic for efficiency - i3 can double as a floating WM as well, so no need to fret about being forced into one thing or the other. Keep in mind, you may want to download a hack for i3 that adds padding/bordering to it (i.e. displays xorg background via feh through the 'cracks' in the tiles). There's a fairly good hack on git by some nerd who did the work for it - go for the first one you find, it's pretty much the best.
I love i3, and i3 loves me. It's so easily configurable that I can't part with it. Plus, purely floating WMs I've heard (heard being the key word) are bloated. So there's that, if you care about that.

I can't seem to get rid of KDE - though I may just be bloody retarded. Comprehensive list you could give of most commonly installed bloatware? Perhaps I'll just do a search; I'd be grateful if you helped, however.
I've yet to install Gentoo on a physical machine. All I have are a few hypervisors etc.
In due time, I will have a Thinkpad with muh Gentoo on it. That'll be the day I most likely start using bspwm and btrfs (semi-)seriously. Ha.

Nah not like that. But when you use feh, it works with xorg (the i3-gaps), or something like that, to let feh create a background image and have the gaps show the background image... with feh. Or whatever image background-setting-software you have. I don't have a good understanding of how xorg works other than "it show good grafux on computa" - I'm working to change that. Just have to set aside a day to study up on the software's inner workings - as well as feh's. It interests me greatly: I'm apologetic towards any kind of ignorance I may show. I don't mean to have it, and I probably shouldn't be giving advice / acting like I know things when I may know nothing true. For that, I am sorry.

Doesn't matter, you can make any linux distro look like any other. What matters is the Window Manager that you use. In your screenshot, that looks like it could be Openbox. Look around google for the specifics on how to switch window managers on your distro.
Not sure what the panel is. For you, I'd probably forget about that panel and use something nice and easy to customize like tint2. You could probably get it looking pretty similar.

No, Openbox is riceable through its config files, which are in XML. XML isn't coding and is retardedly easy to learn. You'll probably pick it up just opening the config file.

Is it possible to have bspwm/i3-style window management with dwm? I've been considering redoing my whole setup because it's become kinda bloated and ugly and I just keep windows in floating mode half the time but I'm unsure if I should switch WM.
