Doing a budget build and would like your input.

I still have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti thats on the verge of dying.

I don't play much but wanted to try Witcher 3 other than that nothing to gpu intensive wow/kerbal space/minecraft/vic 5.

My budget is up to 300€ and I'd like to stay with nvidia. Should I wait for the new cards and which one should i take?

The new pascal cards are said to be launched in June 2016. However we don't know how good they are going to be and how much they are going to cost. If you cant wait go for something like the 970/960.

I just fucked up for the first time in 12 years and have a bunch of malware/fucked up firefox/weirddesktop shit/the whole shabam because of a dodgy torrent. Its been so long since I fucked up that I don't even know what to do anymore.

The site can see that its coming from the same IP address.
If you're alone on the IP then you're easy to identify, but if your connection is shared it's not as obvious.

Looking here at a local price comparison site, I have three options at about the same price range:

>Gigabyte GV-R939G1 GAMING-8GD (OC to 1025MHz core clock from 1000)
>SAPPHIRE NITRO Radeon R9 390 8G with back plate
All three are practically priced the same.
>>
>>54049149
Facebook generally doesn't track that kind of cross-site information. That's Google territory.

Many sites embed Google Analytics and other Google JavaScript into their websites, which allows google to see you go from site to site, keeping tabs on your browsing behavior.

It's pretty cool, really. I can see how many men/women, blacks, high-income, etc that visit my website.

I'm not so excited about it. exif data on some boards have a reason to exist, reposting them on a different board inopportunely flattens any image info.
I blame mobile and youngsters. The amount of mobile users is insane, and the amount of personal data smartphone botnets collect is insane too. In this way youngsters are driven to believe that their images/photos do not hold any personal data, and they are gonna get fucked as soon as they post the same photo on a different site. Yes, it is. 4chan is one of the few sites where people will consistently go out of their way to fuck with you if they get your dox.

People will dox themselves easier on any other site. The past generation was properly educated and instructed to remove exif data if it contained personal infos. This generations isn't. It's a fake sense of security. Even worse, this generation isn't instructed to remove exif data when using smartphone botnets.
It should at least be advertised that images are "sanitized" and/or manipulated. I may want to share an image "as-is" for whatever reason.

I'm 26. I've been on 4chan probably about a decade now. I was young at the time, but I remember Snacks and /l/.

Not many people bothered to check exifs ever. The only people that did were likely people who got doxxed at some point and found out about exifs the hard way.

While hilarious in many cases, it's just not sane to leave identifying information wide open on all of the younger morons posting from their smartphone, especially not on 4chan.

Maybe I wasn't clear, let's try again:

People will dox themselves easier on any other site. The past generation was properly educated and instructed to remove exif data if it contained personal infos. This generations isn't. It's a fake sense of security. Even worse, this generation isn't instructed to remove exif data when using smartphone botnets.

It should at least be advertised that images are "sanitized" and/or manipulated. I may want to share an image "as-is" for whatever reason.

>grouping 10 years
I've just grouped an age range more likely to mindlessly and extensively use mobile botnets. Some in that age range had experience of mobile devices only (sadly). I've witnessed college freshmen taking comments on their surface with "hey it's my first laptop". People who never owned a PC, and gamed on console.
They do exist.
>>
>>54050233
I agree that it should be noted somewhere on the site that images are sanitized, and why.

While it's easier to dox yourself elsewhere, 4chan is one of the few places where people actively and consistently attempt to actually cause harm to people with little provocation.

It is worth noting that 4chan is an imageboard, not an image hosting website, and not a file sharing website. There's no guarantee that your images aren't just compressed and stripped, and you'd be silly to make that assumption anyway.
>>
>>54050294
>imageboard, not an image hosting website
Curious, I always thought and regarded imageboards as boards used to share images.
>There's no guarantee that your images aren't just compressed and stripped, and you'd be silly to make that assumption anyway.
It would be only silly to assume that an image isn't checked for embedded malware (something that happened in 4chan's long history) or embedded stuff (from RARs to sounds). Only really recently 4chan has started to badly recompress and "sanitize" images. Completely silently, I read no news about it. In the past, if something unwarranted was embedded, the image was rejected.

It's worth nothing to note that any other imageboard does not manipulate images. I distinctively remember /g/entoomen proud of fact that 4chan didn't manipulate images (contrary to e.g. imgur)

Dear /sqt/.

One of the games I bought it refusing to run properly, so I can play legally bought product. Maybe it is DRM, but whatever.

Game in question, tries to set up local server upon running and crash when it tries to connect with own creation. Logs list error as: "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION: The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access."

If something is blocking it, how can I check what exactly, without disabling everything and unlocking one by one? What Windows (7) service could interfere with that? Not V or Windows Firewall, I checked those in first place, ports usually used for Apache servers are opened too.

Thanks for any reply, like always.

What is the safest way to transfer and backup files from a probably infected machine? I want to transfer around 50 gigs of jpgs, pngs, webms, and mp4s from a probably compromised win7 machine to another one before I format. Using a flash drive could lead to spreading of the infection, correect? Or is there a safe way to use one that wouldn't lead to that? Also, I would prefer not to use a hosting service but will do so if that is the best option.

I have a work laptop that i want to use for personal use.

I installed another OS to ensure whatever tracking software they installed couldn't track my on the other OS.

However, i'm paranoid as fuck so i want to go one step further: Keeping my data on a usk stick and mounting it every time i need to use the computer.

I need two things:

1. Some software that can encrypt the contents of the drive.

2. Some way to mount the drive as soon as i plug the drive in. (prompting for the passsword, obviously)

Would be awesome to have it work across platforms.

I'm thinking of moving all the contents of my home directory to the encrypted disk. And making a soft link from /home/username -> /mnt/drive/home/

What can/might go wrong with this setup?

I know it's pretty bare but I just want my website to be the bare minimum. Haven't uploaded any photos or proper descriptions yet, but does this look functional enough?

Again, not trying to make anything flashy (admittedly because I don't have the skills to make anything good, but it doesn't seem necessary anyway).

Side question: what do I put as the href url for the home link? Tried leaving it blank but that just links to whatever page you're already on. Atm it's just "index.html" as you can see yourself.

I have hundreds of gigabytes of video on my hard drive.
What's the best way to store it, if I want to minimize disk usage?

The best solution that I see is a ZFS partition with deduplication. It's fast, easy, but sadly doesn't give very much benefit.

>>
>>54052018
http://pastebin.com/CiH4jHuD
>>
>>54052122
lossy? yes. hard? if you want absolute optimal results, yes, kinda hard.

All i have experience in is when i had some videos that i took from my digicam, which were only a few minutes long yet were like 70 fucking MBs.
Some googling later and trying some randumb things i saw if i converted the video to the same format and used default settings, there was no visible loss in quality but the size came down to around 5-7 mb which is fucking HUGE.

So yeah, don't take my word for it. If you have videos that were taken from digicam/phones, then try my way, because digicams are slow and can't compress the videos in real time.

If you have videos downloaded from youtube or something, these are already compressed so going with ZFS will produce better results.

A hard drive lasts ~6 years. No warranties beyond 5 years, no matter if you keep it disconnected. They are more sensible to temperature, humidity, magnetic fields, vibration, oxidation - if compared to tapes or m-disc. After 20 years your hard drive will likely be unreadable. I've tapes from the 90s which are perfectly fine.
It's cheaper only if your data has no value.

wireshark is more of an analyzer than a monitor, but a keyword that even just in the right neighborhood will get you a selection of programs that might be what you want, and they all have descriptions or can be looked up before installing

Already did that with the MSI live updater 6™.
What do you mean by shitty micro atx.

Stay assured that after 20,40,60 years you'll be able find a compatible tape reader. Tape readers not going away.
Sure, if your data has no value, there's this "diminishing returns on the cost vs value". m-disc are a cheap alternative to enterprise-grade tape readers. CD readers will likely become scarcer but they will likely survive. You can get 5x100GB MDISCs for ~90$. The cost is comparable to an external hard drive and will outlive an external/docked/archived hard-drive

I have not installed the system yet.
There is a way to check the same repositories on the web?

yeah just look up what alternatives there are available to any particular program for linux. pretty much any software available for linux can be installed on any distro, though you may have to work some hoodoo with your sources file

Tapes can physically last decades, but the data doesn't. My VHS tapes have problem with the video. Some of them have demagnetization. This does not happens with HDD.
