Whether you are Apple or not honestly I see it logical.

I just hope it doesn't turn into a giant iOS and still functions much like OSX though. I don't mind changes in design too much these days, how it "looks" (unless it's the kind of trash from windows 10) or adding an app store or whatever. Just don't subtract the rest of the system. Don't be turning macbook pros into iPad pros without touchscreens
>>
>>54048296
I guess Apple over marketed OS X and now have to backtrack so they can return to a more logical naming convention.

Going instead with OS XI, OS XII, OS XIII, would make the "OS X" brand lose it's appeal.

OS 9/11

This time with a better file system though please thanks

Osten sounds good.
"Det findes lite, der jeg liger så meget som vakre, runde oster, og, av den grunn, fylles mitt sind med den hoyeste fryd, bare ved den tanke, der er Osten"
I would have joked about it every day here in Norway.

We shouldn't really mind it honestly.

It's the mainstream thing to do now. You know, like hating the right wing. It's the default.
>>
>>54042378

How much has OS X improved in the last 5 years compared to Windows?
>>
>>54044058
Only by techical definition.
It functions very poorly as a unix system, and most mac users are completely unaware of unix beyond a buzzword.
>>
>>54048941
>It functions very poorly as a unix system

It's been certified as a UNIX compliant system. Therefore it functions precisely as a UNIX system is supposed to function.

What I suspect you mean is "It's not Linux so I get confused, and I think UNIX means it should only run on servers and OS X doesn't so I'm confused"
>>
>>54048997
Yeah, until you realise that it by default runs a non case-sensitive filesystem.
That means that most OSX systems don't meet posix compliance.

>>54051149

>>
>>54048997
If I'm not mistaken, GNU/Linux *can* meet POSIX UNIX as well, it's just it by default it works in a slightly more efficient or logical way, and nobody has deemed POSIX certification important enough to have it certified.

and yet the other nine billion problems with linux distros don't affect os x.

that's really pathetic. those indian programers just jump like 4 versions because they want to.

kids on /g/ don't know what the NT kernel is or what version different Windows editions' use. this is just a poorfag circle jerk thread. don't even bother.

>"OS X is good because it's real unix"
>"only if you install it as such"
>"HAH! nobody cares if it's real unix or not"
I'm not seeing the logic here.

Even then, OS X has a tonne of major problems. HFS, Frankenunicode, Apple's indifference towards security, outdated packages, etc. That's ignoring if you are a freetard, which adds a whole dimension of problems.

I'll admit that it's better than Windows, but that's hardly an achievement in this day and age.
>>
Makes sense. There will obviously never been an OS11.

The initiated will continue to call is OSX - even OS-TEN for the extreme nerds - which will make them fell special.
