Why dont you use your monitor in portrait /g/?
Because I like taking advantage that the human cone of vision is wider than it is tall.
>>54037961
I do, but as a secondary screen.
>>54037961
Aw shit man, just noticed!
Is that a Seagate U6? And ontop of Battlefield Vietnam?!
>>54037982
>taking advantage that the human cone of vision
>All webpages are portrait anyways

Guilty :)
>>54038086
Meh, nah.
>>54037961
I tried but it's a dumb meme for programming since I don't have so much vertical FOV. Now I use it to read manga.
Because it jiggles the power cable and causes that distressing little 'reee don't tread on me reeeee' electrical *pop* sound.
>>54037961
Because I'm not a moron.
>>54037961
Because I do more than play candy crush

Whats wrong with Java?

oracle runtime
>>54037961
Its decent for a 2nd or 3rd monitor, not your main one
>>54038409
I dont get it. You need a runtime? Is that the problem?
You also need for Python, and Python is slower too, and i dont see anyone complaining.
>>54037961
I find it easier to use multiple text editor windows or terminal screens when they're side by side.
It's easier to compare things because you can line them up or remember where things are in 2d - each window is on different x position and in each window you were looking at y position, while in portrait monitor position lines of text and windows are both on x axis.
Also, if someone takes a photo of me looking at some pics, they can say I had my waifu framed and I was looking at her framed picture on my desk. I don't want to look like a loser.
>>54037961
But I do
>>54038483
Stylish. Is that Oberon or someshit?
>>54038520
Read the filename. It's a Xerox Alto.
>>54038483
Looks like a washing machine and some dishes next to a cash register.
>>54037961
Because, I'm not that autistic.
I watch media, I do also play gaymes from time to time, and make music.
Also This: >>54037982
>>54038520
Nope, Xerox Alto.
There were others similar workstations in the timeframe between 1979 and the mid eighties though.
>>54038550
Those dishes are 7.5 MB worth of removable hard disk platters.
>>54037961
I have a screen in landscape and one in portrait.
>>54038463
But Python isn't complete shit
>>54037961
Very interesting.
>>54038617
And you are now saying that Java is shit? What?
If it is shit, why is it running on over 2 billion devices?
>>54037961
my secondary monitor is in portrait
>>54037961
Practically everything is designed for landscape. If you're just reading docs or programming portrait is fine. Everything else you'll need landscape.
With that said my setup has often included a secondary display in portrait specifically for reading/writting.
>>54038692
7 billion humans produce a lot of shit every day, not counting animals
this is now a 4:3 screen thread.
GOLDEN RATIO IS BEST RATIO
>>54038753
What has human and animal feces have to do with programming and Java?
>>54037961
Because my current monitors don't turn around. Btw I always wondered how fullscreen videos render in portrait mode ?
>>54038768

why they fucked it up just to resell everyone tv and pc screens? 4:3 was the perfect proportion for everything
>>54037961
I have three rotateable monitors and I rarely rotate because craining my neck up and down to see the whole screen sucks. I would have to push my monitor back to the edge of my desk.
>>54038912
how bad is your vision?
>>54037961
Because I don't want my pixels to slide out the side
>>54038483
so advanced for it's time, ARPANet link/Ethernet included, pity Xerox didn't see it

I use my computer for more than programing and Web browsing
I actually do this when i play pinball fx.
Only because mine can rotate like that without taking it off the stand. Feels too weird to browse with. Could see a big benefit for coders though.
>>54038825
They're just smaller. Portrait is absolutely worst unless you need it.
I mainly used it to run multiple instances of wow to dual boot or when I tested a bot in wow and tweaked it while seeing how it run.
>>54037961
I'm not autistic
because in portrait I can fit 2 columns of text instead of only one.
>>54038692
Thanks for your input Pajeet. 4 rupees have been deposited in you paypal by Oracle Inc.
this is the literal international symbol of autism.
>that weird guy at my workplace has a dual monitor setup in portrait mode, wallpaper is some hentai waifu, he always wears an suit and tie when the rest of us walk around in flipflops, even on the hottest days
if you use your screen in portrait you should really reconsider your life tbqh.
