I use Winyl. It's not perfect but it has the layout I like and it does what it does with little to no fuss.
Shame there's no Linux version of it, and that it's closed source.

I´ve searched ages for an alternative. Loved it for the short time I was on mac because it tied perfectly in my music discovery progress which is two steps.
1. download whole lot of albums that seemed interesting, listen to them in a small folder based player. Vox was perfect for this because you could simply double click the first file in a folder and it would play the whole folder. Haven´t found any player on windows that does the same.
2. delete albums I didn´t like, tagg albums I liked and rename with my file name scheme and copy to music folder on the nas
there was a really small player called "billy" that came somewhat close, It doesn´t seem to be downloadable anymore on the devs website though

aimp bruh.
i took the most popular suggestions from this thread and downloaded all of them and did a comparison of sorts.
the competitors musicbee, foobar2000, and winamp.
winamp is good. i like the style but the columns are awkward in places and the hotkeys practically are nonexistent. it doesnt respond to any of the window size commands that i often use in windows ie double click the top for full screen or drag to edge/top of screen for fullscreen or half screen. i like how it gives you seperate sections for artist/album/song simultaneously.
foobar2k. i dont like the aestetic as much as the others. it doesnt respond to common hotkeys. i despise how it shows you every song album and artist in one window. having over 30k songs can make that very tedious to sort through.
musicbee (winner). it responds to the play/pause/skip buttons on my keyboard. navigation is about the same as winamp and it displays artists the same as winamp. it responds to the window snap/doubleclick commands perfectly. i love the aesthetic and i like how easy it is to manage the windows that separate artist/album/song in them. and it will show you the lyrics by clicking a simple tab.
