is ITX the future of desktops?
>>

Maybe, but I like your cat
>>
>>53985396
5/10 on your choice of Cider.
Bulmers No.17 is tastier.
>>
>>53985396
Your cat has the perfect amount of fat.
Nice cat.

I'm 100% certain my future desktop is going to be am mini-ITX without graphic card - integrated Intel HD is more than enough for my usage.
>>
>>53987315
I agree, it's not too chubby, it looks pretty agile, and it looks very snuggly and generally like a good cat

For the longest time all I could see of the thumbnail was this gigantor hair arm not attached to a body
>>
>>53985396
No, for the reason hugging your computer. You have more heat in a smaller place that needs to get pushed out. You're going to have to clean your heatsink fins, fans, and any screens, hopefully filtering cat hair out of your computer, more often.

How often should i change thermal paste on my cat?
Does it matter what type of cat it is?
I don't intend to overclock it.

Fuck your cat.
>>
>>53987551
It's okay I had one that was similar but higher quality years ago.

Those breed of cats are nice mine literally never dropped any hair and vets always told me that breed was expensive as fuck but I got it as a gift together with 2 cats more and a dog.

It looks like your cat has problems with gravity or understanding that right is not down.

>>
>>53985396
Probably, just look at the course of history. Our computers today are ITX compared to those just 20 years ago.

all mini-itx has done is replace the micro-atx fad that started a few years back.

like micro-atx fad, it won't replace regular atx motherboard as the most popular.

Not really, because theres not enough space in them. I changed to desktop to have space and cooling otherwise I would still be on my laptop.

maybe. it's like small cars, though. they'll get better and better, but some people will still want big fuck ugly pickup trucks (>inb4 but mom I need a full tower), and for the sake of fairness they'll be able to do so. that's what life is about, man.

No. ITX is a meme.

ATX is the sweet spot for how big of a box you want to have on/under/next to your desk which you can still lug around if need be.
>>
>>53985396
No, because most people who buy a desktop do so for expandability.

When iGPUs become powerful enough to satiate gamertards then ITX will likely die because it's useless for literally anything else you'd want a desktop for.
>>
>>53992333
>which you can still lug around if need be

What? Fuck no, that's mATX. You can even still SLI/Crossfire in mATX

And my ATX build is heavy as fuck and terrible to lug around
>>
>>53985396
There's no future for desktops.
>>

Silverstone Raven RVZ02 is pretty good. Still a little big for what I'm assuming you want, as it can fit a 10" graphics card.
>>
>>53985396
Can you put a decent cooler, a GPU, an SSD and a HDD on it ?
Running with nice temps?
Then sure I am in.
>>
>>53995252
Very much depends on the case. The one in OP's pic (the Raijintek Metis) is kind of bad in that regard, and benefits greatly from modding an intake into the top panel. The mATX version of that case already comes with a ventilated top from the factory.

Currently running in a Bitfenix Prodigy (admittedly, this is more m-atx than itx sized) and going to upgrade to a dan case when it comes out. I'd say yes - I'm packing a 980 and a skylake processor without any cooling issues. The only issue I encountered while building was that I initially bought a monster of a GPU that wouldn't fit in the case (Palit 980 jetstream) but I'm now using a stock cooler and everything is good. When pascal hits things will be even better for small form factor gaming since the single power connector means that the GPU will generate less heat.

Anyway, while I'm here, let me ask a question to my itx bros: Is there any benefit, either in noise or in cooling performance, to upgrading from the Intel stock to an aftermarket low profile cooler? I'm currently looking at the Silverstone AR06 or NH-L9i, but I don't know if the form factor itself is too limiting to really improve on the stock cooler.
>>
>>53985396
>is x the future of y?

no, probably not, now shut the fuck up and do your own research.
>>
>>54001412
how the fuck does that that not melt itself?
>>
>>54001412
if you've done any research you would know that NH-L9i is shit for any real processor. generally, big shuriken 2 is recommended as far as low profile coolers go.

>GPU exists in its own compartment, sucks air in through the side of the case and blows it out of the back
>PSU sucks air in through the other side of the case and blows it out of the bottom, essentially a self contained system
>CPU heat is exhausted straight out of the side
>any heat generated by the motherboard rises out of the top

Hypothetically the temps should actually be better than some (poorly designed) ATX cases.

>>54001556
>big shuriken 2
Not sure if I can use that because I'm a pleb and I bought a motherboard without a central socket.
>>
>>53997588
does that gpu extension hinder performance?
