I kind of like it, and have been a fan of it forever. I was designing websites, forums, etc similar to that back in 2007 (when I actually did graphic design for money). What I dont like is when you lose functionality at the expense of form, but if you can have a detailed, concise layout that isn't all over the place, or overly simplified, I'm all for it.
Its a million times better than the jelly bean, bubbly designs we saw for a while

"Bloat" claiming aside, Sense has had the most feature rich and good looking theme of them all.
While today, the older versions look meh to some, at the time they stood above all.
Vanilla Android was slim, but some features that was introduced in JellyBean was there on Sense 5 on 4.0.3 ICS.
So in a sense (no pun) people see Sense as bloat while it in fact is just what Android is soon to be.

If anything the problem here is that on Android it is possible for apps to capture the Back button and many app developers do so in order to go back within the app, requiring something like a double tap, or pressing back while at the top level activity to leave the app.
The problem being it is up to the developer to decide if they want to override the default action of the Back button.
It is still infinitely better than using a gesture.
