Does anyone with MDR-7506s hear subtle, but very noticeable driver actuation noises when listening to bass tones under 200Hz?
It's like a fluttering noise, and I've been hearing it every since I bought them.

There might be something stuck into the driver like a hair.
>>
>>53964646
It's either a hair in the driver or little hair in your ears and you need to remove them using tweezers. I thought my ears were ruptured but I tweezed a hair out that was stuck in my ear canal when I use IEMs.

The Fiio replacement cable for Shure's are decently cheap as far as aftermarket headphone cables go. RC-SE1.
No point in getting new if the IEM itself isn't broken.

HE400i.
Doesn't need an amp but either Schiit stack or O2+ODAC if you want one. Get whatever is cheaper.

I wouldn't mind trying something new. I like how they suck into my ears and isolate all noises and the bass. But sometimes I feel like they could be clearer? Don't know I'm probably a pleb.

More things to break that you pay extra for plus batteries. It is more sensible to get an adapter for wired headphones.

Autism mostly. No reason to hate on wireless. Problem is that there are only a few good wireless products we know of and most wireless stuff goes undocumented. Hard to recommend something nobody really knows anything about.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the proprietary technology involved that gets the sound quality to almost as good as wired headphones.

Are there any headphones with a lifetime warranty like the KOSS portapro? I keep seeing "these headphones are betturr" or "The portapro have shoit sound", but still, I'm a headphone abuser, I regularly wreck them. This has happened to me:

>be me
>headphone headband adjuster gets #rekt
>send it to Koss, saying "They sound a lil bit shit and also this piece broke off. Could you replace the bad parts?
>2 weeks later
>get it back
>look at the manifest describing what has been done with them
>New Y cable
>New PortaPro element (the headphone speakers I presume)
>new headpiece

That's basically new headphones, like out of the box new, and it cost me (including postage) 10 bucks. These have already been in service about five times (due to my stepping on them, tugging on the cable, fell on them during skiing - actually they didn't break on that occasion but I drowned them afterwards). So they are top notch for quality control.

Are there any other companies that have the balls to recommend these? I'd love to get some good headphones for my PC usage at home. Cheers, guys!
>>

If you abused headphones a lot just get German Maestro headphones
>>
>>53966135
>100$ - 150$
>no lifetime free warranty as far as I can see
What is their selling point? Only ones I can find are 3 years of warranty. At that price, I could easily get the 4AAT or even 4AAAT with lifetime warranty from Koss. Not thinking about "Not being able to break them", because I can break absolutely any headphones out there, unless they're made out of concrete. I'm fucking clumsy. That's why I'm trying to save as much money post-purchase, because I know I'll get used to them and buying new headgear every couple months could burn a hole through my pocket.
>>
>>53966135
Thanks for the answer anyway, the German Maestros look like really nice headphones if I ever get less clumsy.

100$ is way too much for entry level
Try the HD 202, they're durable, good enough for entry level and cost 20 dollars. I can personally attest for these as I've owned them for 2 years and still work great and the clamping force loosened into a really snug and comfy fit.
I also saw the Monoprice 108323 recommended a lot as entry level headphones but /hpg/ kinda forgot about it. Probably because the general went to shit.

Ok so since there isn't a general for speakers, I thought I should ask here. Are there any good bookshelf speakers which won't come with a ball busting price?
>>
>>53967710
Arguably the best at 60 bucks, if you really want bass to go nice and low you're gonna have to add a sub though.
They're fine on a desk, but they get overwhelmed quickly in a room.

They're also not very effecient so make sure to get a good amp.

These go for $100 when they're on sale, which is pretty frequent. Widely acclaimed as the best speakers at their price point. You have to spend at least $200 to get anything better. Very flat frequency response, unreal bass extension given that the woofer is 4".

Different guy here.
My dad has them, they're not very comfy to me.
Pads are flat and feel cheap, so they're pretty much on-ear.
Headband padding is soft enough.
Clamp is soft, because the entire thing's made of plastic. Makes it not absolutely terrible to wear.

It really feels horribly cheap, but they still work after a lot of years so I suppose they're not terrible quality.

Breaking in headphones is not a real thing. The only thing happening is you getting used to your headphones by just using them normally.

>Breaking in headphones is not a real thing
It kind of is. The pads get looser therefore the headphones gets every so slightly closer to your hear, so they sound different
>>
>>53970282
when I say "not a real thing" I'm referring to the myth that they sound 500X better after having them sit there and blast noise for a long period of time, like some dolts do to their new headphones.

of course they'll sound a little different after wearing them for a while due to a number of different factors, but it won't drastically alter the sound
>>
>>53970274

Probably yeah. I don't have any tools for fixing it though, and I'd probably be shit at it anyway. I think I might still have a warranty
>>
>>53968635
I have them. Bass is there but it is weak, the rest is okay. Most people complain that they break or fall apart, mine are still fine, had them for 3 years. If you don't throw them around and treat them carefully they won't break. I find them very comfortable, ear pads are decently large (60x40 mm) but not deep (about 14 mm), so if your ears are huge or stick out a lot they probably won't be comfortable, clamp force is weak. They don't isolate much so using them in a bus or some place like that is a terrible idea, otherwise they do cut out enough noise to be listenable.

Not yet. It's terrible and it sounds worse than stock.
>>
>>53970308
by the time the sound changes in the headphone due to pads or some other thing, you wouldn't even realize the change because it's so small your brain could easily adjust itself to accommodate it.

Not only that, but the sound changes ever so slightly anyways due to the fact you never put your headphones on in the exact same way, so in the end there is no real effect going on that's immediately noticeable.
>>
>>53970472
Yeah, I tried to EQ them by comparing their InnerFidelity graph to HD 600 one, sounded weird so I just left it stock. When do you think you'll have the EQ done? I don't check these threads often but wouldn't want to miss it.

Two weeks or more. I made the Monoprice 8320 eq in the last thread but it doesn't sound 1:1, only similar. My eqs are subjective so they may not sound good to your ears.

Don't own an AMP but don't mind looking into getting one. Mainly use it for my homedesktop and my work laptop

>Preferred type of headphone
Full size

>Open or closed
Closed. I hate when people hear my music

>Comfort level
More comfortable. My current everyday is ATH-M50 and they pinch my ears way to much and after long use get heavy

>Preferred tonal balance
Personally I love feeling the bass in my music but I listen to all kinds of music. Hip-hop, jazz, pop, metal etc.

>Preferred music
I listen to all kinds of music and like to enjoy them all

>Past headphones
First nicer kind was Skullcandies fullsize. I liked them because they were loud as hell but the noise leak was huge and sound quality just wasn't there at all.

For gaming I used some Razer Cacarus and the comfort on these phones were amazing. 100% amazing but the sound quality and the leak on the felt pads were rubbish.

Now I use ATH-M50 with Modmic. The sound quality is good and the loudest and bass I like but the comfort level of these phones suck. I have tried stretching them but it hasn't helped. Generally my ear are getting pinched a lot and the upper parts of my ear are just hurting a great deal.

I've never heard of those phillips although they look like the 'junior' version of the X2's and that's probably a good sign, however if you've never had good headphones then the takstars will feel god tier. If I was you i'd buy them because you will either be so happy that you won't care about upgrading ever or you will love them but want something more after a while if this hobby consumes you.

What i'm trying to say is that the takstars will be your end game instantly or you would end up seller either of them for something better in the long run.

>>
>>53971880
The Philips are discontinued, so if you want them, now's the time to buy them.
>>
>>53971880
Ah, Iv'e never tried those headphones but I know that they're supposed to be decent. Honestly I wouldn't bother buying either of them for an open headphone test. I was assuming you only tried pure shit headphones in your entire life.

The next open headphone step imo would be the akg k702 (fully open) or the fostex T50RP mk3's which are semi open. If you can't afford £120 or so then I would just stick to what you have, for now at least.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I was looking to update my PCs surround sound. I need a new AV receiver since my current one is old as shit and the best it supports is S/PDIF.

HDMI supports Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD/Lossless PCM/ect and most AVRs seem to focus on having a bunch of HDMI input on the back and one HDMI output that you then feed to your monitor. Sounds easy just plug my video card's HDMI into the AVR and then from that go to my monitor. But apparently this introduces a certain amount of latency which isn't really acceptable if I'm going to be playing games on this.

So then I was thinking I'll get a splitter take the HDMI out of my PC put it through the splitter and have one going to my monitor and the other to the AVR I'm going to buy but none of the ones I could find supported HDMI 2.0 most were just 1.4 which isn't going to work with my 4k monitor.

So I'm kinda at a loss for what to do, should I just buy that new AVR turn off as much processing features as I can and eat whatever latency it shits out. Internet varies from "I don't notice any" to "Can't play anything because of the 35ms of latency it introduces" to "lol I dunno", maybe I should keep trying to find an HDMI 2.0 splitter or maybe just stick with S/PDIF and just say fuck it to modern audio standards.

I was thinking maybe I should get like a sound card with HDMI out but from what I was looking at none of them supported that it was either S/PDIF or a series of 3.5mm jacks.

So I'm getting to the point where I just don't know anymore.

you have to manhandle them but it's not really that hard once you realize the pads stretch. They've added a little more bass, mids might be a little veiled, idk. I think they sound a little better. There's a layer of foam in the original pads that comes out that I had to put behind the new ones or else cymbals would stab my ears. After that it was all good. I'm really happy with it.
