Qt is the future, so it's KDE.
Qt is just a superior framework. Unity already switched so it's just a matter of time until other DEs and programs such as Firefox switch to Qt
GNOME is generally more polished.
KDE is generally more flexible.
Each has their benefits and downsides, and general 'feel'. People gotta pick what they prefer, there is no objective superior choice.

I can't see them switching the main one to Qt anytime soon though. Maybe if someone releases a cuck toolkit they might switch to it.

The OpenSuSE Firefox just replaces the file selector with Qt's.
The rest of the browser needs to be Qt too. Sadly there was some horribly unfinished code within Firefox's source that was a start to Qt and never finished. I actually got it to compile once and it was very unfinished, messy, and buggy, but it worked...

Cinnamon is gtk3 like gnome 3.
KDE if running with defaults, GNOME if I get to customise it. There's nothing to settle for good. Different people will enjoy different environments and that's all good.
I ran KDE for some six-eight months a while back and never got my setup to be as comfortable as I got GNOME within half an hour of tweaking. Kind of ironic given how people parrot that GNOME barely doesn't let you change anything. But GNOME's defaults is not something I would ever want to be stuck with.
Switching back to Gnome my next need to reboot. Full screen apps seem to screw with the stability and I am just tired of dealing. VM Workstation seems to be the problem and not KDE which really stinks.

I use GNOME because it just works better for me out of the box and I prefer how it looks by default.
However I think Qt is better than GTK because of QML and a stable/mature api.
I'm exclusively using Debian Stable so I can't use KDE 5 yet and I'm only at GNOME 3.14.

There are a lot of things I criticise Nautilus and GNOME in general for, it's definitely very far from perfect, but at least I know what I'm talking about.

I'm not sure about Qt, but KDE in general offers more customization of the DE itself, although it feels much less polished. For example, it lets you change the Window Manager like any other setting. As far as polish, there's lots of little bugs and crashes, and the defaults really don't look great. Like another anon said, cheap plastic.
