When agencies come to confiscate equipment it is to have physical access and proof. If they are saying you are hosting CP on your home server, they can bring that server into court and show the jury.
Secondly, it allows them to further go through your hard. They may know you deal in CP because you downloaded a tagged image, but they can confiscate your server and find much more along with others who are doing the same thing.
