Why would you install a botnet OS if you plan on removing the botnet?

That's like buying a cup of coffee then removing the coffee

What makes you think than any Linux distribution is botnet free?

Their distribution could contain multiple back-doors.

Before/During Installation:

Do not use Express Settings. Hit Customize, and make sure everything is turned off.

It's strongly preferred that you use a local account with Windows 10.

After Installation:

Head to Settings > Privacy, and disable everything, unless there are some things you really need.

While within the Privacy page, go to Feedback, select Never in the first box, and Basic in the second box.

Head to Settings > Update and Security > Advanced Options > Choose how updates are delivered, and turn the first switch off.

Disable Cortana by clicking the Search bar/icon.

Disable web search in Search by going to Settings, and turning off Search online and include web results.

Change the name of your PC by going to Start (or hitting the Windows key), typing About PC, and clicking Rename PC.

Open up the Command Prompt by launching cmd as an administrator, and enter the following:

sc delete DiagTrack

sc delete dmwappushservice

echo "" > C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Diagnosis\ETLLogs\AutoLogger\AutoLogger-Diagtrack-Listener.etl

Open up the Group Policy Editor by launching gpedit.msc as an administrator. Go through Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Data Collection and Preview Builds. Double click Telemetry, hit Disabled, then apply. NOTE: This only truly works in the Enterprise edition, but the final step provides a decent enough workaround for Pro users.

While still in the Group Policy Editor, go through Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > OneDrive, double click Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage, hit Enabled, then apply.

While still in the Group Policy Editor, go through Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender, double click Turn Off Windows Defender, hit Enabled, then apply.
>>
2/3

Open up the Registry Editor by launching regedit as an administrator. Go through HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\DataCollection, select AllowTelemetry, change its value to 0, then apply.

Download the Take Ownership tweak and enable it. Then, head to the Hosts File by going through C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc, take ownership of the hosts file, and add all of these IPs:

it's closed source so there's literally nothing you can do that isn't placebo inside the OS

>>
>>53944929
Doesnt even matter, Microsoft did a good job with win10, I like the UI and it is fast and all my software runs perfectly, dont need anything else in my OS.
Linux doesnt work for me feels shitty and my software doesnt work on there.

>>big fat blocks of color for tiny ass icons
I'm not really sure what you're talking about here.
>>mandatory full screen applications for the new part of the UI
I'm not sure that these apps actually exist. I don't think I've ever used one.
>>UI is half new half old, complete clash of style
It really isn't that noticeable.
>>everyone and their mother advocates installing a 3rd party piece of software to disable the new UI that looks like it was literally designed by children for children
This doesn't really have anything to do with the look, they're just trying to get the start menu back.

I just browse every single website, place where people talk about it, I put everything together, see which one repeat - keep them and remove the ones that almost never repeat - then on - top of that verify with the list I used before and remove duplicates.

There are some duplicates in post forgot to remove them.

I plan on using it with DNS poisoning at the router level rather than HOSTS editing, was hoping there was a simple text file or similar that I could just automatically fetch. Guess not.
Appreciate the list though.

never happened to me in close to a year of windows 10 usage. Haven't used anything but enterprise tho - which give more control over the os and its behavior.
>>
>>53945540

and yet other people have shown that telemetry systems in windows and even the edge browser ignore the hosts file

i seriously doubt that the host file has ANY effect on the things you are trying to disable
>>
>I just did something stupid, thereby supporting and empowering the stupid thing
>help me fix it

How about you don't do, and lend credence to, stupid things in the first place?
>>
>>53945659
Well it does tho. There is no internet communication no packets sent for any of the service you block the ip/domain to, you can verify that.
They do reset the hosts file once you update, that's why you should have it backed up and keep it opened in a software like notepad++ which tells you when specific files were edited, that way you can always check it without it being an extra chore.

I'm not familiar with what exactly makes w10 a botnet? Obviously if you're on windows you're doing work or playing games so you shouldn't really have personal material on the computer anyways. Does it have something to do with logins or something I think I've noticed? What should I turn off or avoid doing?
>>
>>53944144
Tinywall on normal mode + Peerblock with Microsoft list, Microsoft can't do shit.
>>
>>53945704
There's more than telemetry data collection compared to other versions of windows.

On other windows versions you had to press send or do not send when various telemetry data was requested.

Now with windows 10 by default everything is sent and to stop it ( you cannot stop it for core problems, but such errors happen rarely ) you have to use enterprise and create a group policy.

Also compared to different windows versions not only that by default all this is enabled but it stores keystrokes, voice, devices, camera, personal data, goes trough your stuff - lots and lots of private data - which again is enabled by default - you have to go trough lots of settings to stop it - but once you done with the surface layer - there's a shit ton of stuff to do in the under layer.

This is just barely the surface of what you have to do:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt577208(v=vs.85).aspx

So they took this path of data collection and decided to suddenly specialize on cloud service - they use all data to make a profit - but considering the huge amount of data which is stored about you at their data centers - the NSA could knock any day at their door and they will willingly pass everything which is requested.

What you need to do if you want to use that OS is to minimize the amount of data stared eventually make it just a string of settings and irrelevant data in the context of advertising / consumer profile which are just tied up to your ip.

go to your update manager, find update 3035583 and uninstall it, restart your computer and then hide 3035583.

You'll never see the 'Upgrade to Windows 10" popup again.
>>
>>53945624
Actually, this blocks windows update too. that's not okay.
I'll have to play with it.
>>
>>53945768
You can download updates on your own and apply them. I do that once few months - but I actually prefer to re-install OS when major updates come. Since they change os much of the core you'll never have an updated OS work as good as a freshly installed OS with that update already integrated in the .iso or sold dvd.
>>
>>53945757
I mean the extent of what I do thats personal on windows thats not related to games is usually done in a private browser just out of habit.
>>
>>53945779
I don't block update checking or installation of updates, but I do have my system set to notify me when updates are available and I can choose to install or not through local policy.

I just unblocked these domains and now Windows update works fine.

>>
>>53945815
If you block everything properly there is absolutely 0 communcation with Microsoft and 0 loss in functionality. What people claim around here tho is that the OS is hard-coded to still send data so if they wanted to get data from you - had all their focus on you they could kinda tell the OS to just ignore everything and send data - but this is just a theory or a possibility who knows... didn't happen,... YET.MAYBE?
>>
>>53945837
how do I block all the communications? I just installed it less than an hour ago

You can't OP.
Neo /g/ will recommend Windows 7
- but you get botnet updates also here
Neo /g/ will suggest installing "Anti Botnet Tool by xX-Dark-Lord-Xy
- but all you get is one more trojan
Neo /g/ will recommend "Deactivate Botnet" scripts that change registry settings
- but Windows 10 has a tool for checking the registry and will set the settings back it needs
Neo /g/ will suggest to disable updates
- but Windows 10 will enable updates again
- and even if you block connections to microsoft, you still have to deal with a weak system, open for every zero day exploits and trojans

tl;dr You can't. Uninstall Windows 10. Install a GNU/Linux distro. It's the only solution.

If you're not a gamer Linux is pretty much the to-go option.

For x64 windows software I use Play On Linux with Winde x64 build and for x32 apps I use cracked crossover.

If your computer is decent you can use Xen to configure a seamless run of applications you need that didn't worth trough wine.

Actually, I'm curious -- how would a Linux noob know what to look for in the source code? Would one need to learn programming just to inspect source code for botnet / other "bad" stuff?
I suppose I could inspect my source code, but I am noob guys, sorry

There is a possibility to inspect the source code, if you want and know how to do it. You don't get that on Windows.

I just laugh at the notion that these people think they can use a Microsoft product and get away from their bullshit because they have these placebo tools.

You're running a system that is still in beta. No, not a complete product, not a complete OS. It doesn't have all the features it should or even were advertised. It was released pretty early.

Yet you want to disable the updates that fix this piece of shit, which for sure are a countermeasure against whatever tampering you might think of doing on the system (including fucking visual styles, which is dumb). Your way of fixing the problem is akin to telling the people that are building your house to get the fuck out halfway through, because you might not trust them enough.

I couldn't find anyway to say here I inspected it I guarantee as of today x release has 0 backdoors.

So let's say hypothetically a person has some not-so-legal files on his/her drive, encrypted of course, would it be dangerous in that case to have Windows 10 installed on his/her PC?

Yes, Microsoft will receive copies of all your CP images (thumbnails for videos) the moment you decrypt them for viewing, as well as the full filenames.
