How long does your smartphone last before you upgrade it? Do you just upgrade after your 2 year contract cycle?
Pondering upon whether I should upgrade my note 4 end of this year, or just use it for a longer while.
When it becomes unusable.
I just replaced my Galaxy Note 1 with a Xiaomi due to a shattered screen, and my Galaxy Note previously replaced my Motorola Droid after the screen stopped responding.

What should I use then, senpai? The data plan here where I live is much more worth it compared to prepaid, unfortunately.

ABORT ABORT
I use T-Mo monthly prepaid. The phones themselves last about 2 years unless there's some real hot shit that comes out. Old phones go on Swappa

I upgrade mine when they become unusable in one way or another. Had to let my Nexus 4 (bought on release date back in 2012) go because it started failing.
I don't upgrade my phone. I replace it when it dies or when it loses basic functionality - microphone, speaker, interface or connectivity.
I have a 5 years old smartphone that works just fine. And before that I had some Nokia brick that worked until it would cost more to repair it than to buy a new phone.
My Moto G from 2013 is still alive and kicking.
All I do is message people and watch videos on youtube.
What exactly would a new $600 phone offer me?
Will it call people faster?

I have no contract, I upgrade when I feel like it

Minor differences in Android versions, easily made up with ROMs or Xposed. Phones have been kinda plateauing lately.
Every 6 months i change out my phone. V10 now lgg5 in 3 months

Don't you have contracts with no end date and no phone included ?

Some shitty cosplayer. It's the only good picture of her, don't bother.
2 years.
The battery dies somewhat after 2 years and software support runs out unless you're in iFag.

I had a Galaxy Nexus.

Okay well, I can pay $40 and get a phone upgrade every 2 years, with 6 GB of data. Or I could pay 50 dollar a month for data only plans for 6 GB. Or I could buy two 3.5 GB prepaid cards, which only last one month for $20 each.
Obviously going with contract is more worth it.

>bipolar junction transistor
I'm gonna use it the next time I have to talk to one of those fucks
anyway I have a Photon Q. It was introduced in 2012, I got it in 2014, and it's kinda junk but not worth the bother to replace. I probably won't get anything else until it breaks somehow.
when new phone with a specific feature i like comes out
i pay full price usually.
phones last about 9 months for me till switch

The Moto G is one of the top community supported devices. Meaning, it has official CM13 support and it's easily de-google-able.
Still got the iPhone 5 i bought at launch. It's a little battered by now, but still does what i need it to do.

I'm upgrading the note 4 when the note 6 comes out, got it at launch
When the phone is unusable.
Had my IPhone 4 at launch didn't upgrade until a few months ago.
At that point the phone kept battery for maybe 20 minutes.
Any exorbitant process would shut it down and the battery % was never right.
Great phone before though.

this
my phone is 3 years old and kinda laggy and needs a reboot at least once a week to work reliably.
I would like to upgrade to the redmi3, but i just got a new battery for 5€ which will last 1-2 more years
Still running a htc one m8.
I can't even justify upgrading.
