It's neat, but has its drawbacks. The 720p screen is a bit tiny, there's not a lot of custom ROM support for it, the battery life tanked from 8 hours of SoT to about 4 hours on Lolipop. Flaps are annoying.

Xperia Z5 Compact

It's small, It's powerful, 32 GB, microsd slot, masterpiece camera, sony personalizationi is nice and not too much bloated, cover widget is fantastic. INCREDIBLE battery and power management, it last 2 days with 4g and wifi always on, lots of whatsapp a bit of browsing and 1 hour of music streaming. Firedragon 810 don't heat so much as expected, never had a forced heat poweroff.

10/10 best phone ever, I hope It last me 3,5 years like his predecessor, the Xperia S.
>>
Z3 Compact owner since December 2015 here. I bought it used though.

>Pros
Useable with one hand
Snapdragon 801 is fast
Dedicated 2-stage camera button
5 hours SoT even on cellular
20MP camera with 4K recording
720p screen has good "retina" density
Mostly stock skin
Water resistant
Lightweight
Good Wi-Fi and cellular reception

>Cons
Battery drain somewhat unpredictable when you turn of annoying power saving tweaks like wakelock batching and CABC
Camera's noise reduction is too aggressive and only works on stock ROMs (why didn't Sony use Qualcomm's image processing?!)
Flap and MicroSD slot broke
16GB is cancer
Almost no third-party development besides Panjeet the ROM chef
Front facing speakers are weak, tinny, and vibrate the phone
Old fashioned vibration motor (feels much worse than my Note 2's linear motor)
Double tap to wake doesn't check proximity sensor so it will wake in your pocket and you leg will tap the screen
Sony's skin has terrible modifications like reassigning text select to double tap (which some apps break) and forcing rotation when charging by dock connector
Top-facing headphone jack
System partition still has a disgusting amount of services and apps compared to AOSP-based ROMs
Gyroscope resets every 2 seconds when headphones are plugged in, breaking Google Cardboard
Ultra Stamina Mode does almost nothing and breaks some settings on exit
Sony puts recovery partition inside boot image (WHAT THE FUCK THIS IS SAMSUNG GALAXY S1-TIER SHIT)
720p screen is only mediocre quality and is too low resolution for Google Cardboard
Screen's color calibration is absolute shit, which is sad coming from Sony of all companies
System is generally stable

In all, I wonder if I should've tried a Galaxy Alpha instead. This is still a massive improvement in most respects over my Note II in speed and stability, but I really miss AMOLED and CyanogenMod.

Pros:
Pretty good battery life even now and was a good smart phone for me to really very into Android with.
Removable battery so I can swap out the battery with a spare and charge the batteries separately to never plug in my phone.

Cons:
2 year old hardware now
Bad fingerprint sensor (I don't even use it).
Broken first Lollipop update on Verizon made me roll back to Kitkat and root the phone because it was so bad.
TouchWiz up until last week when the bootloader finally got unlocked. Now running CM13 but downside being no official CM support.
>>
LG Volt

Pros
Android, so fairly customizable
iPhone 6 sized screen and decent resolution
Flashing colored home button for notifications
OK battery life

CONS

Seems to lose more battery in hot weather??
Not a glass screen, so if dropped, the LCD breaks instead of the fucking glass
Outdated OS looks bad, debatable.

Id rather use an iSpy Apple Memephone than this to be honest.

sick of this size, feels good in hands just annoying lugging it around, esp since having the 2nd battery/charger is almost necessary

Easy mode tier is waiting for each college to have their quarter/semester end and go around and check their bins every night that week.

Alot of students, especially foreign or those finishing their college experience, will toss desktops and shit on their return home.

Just a few weeks ago we were able to snag a new mini-fridge, USB ps2 style controller, expensive korean tea, expensive computer chair, lan cables, old desktop, nice upright fan, etc. And those were just the things we wanted.

There was an espresso machine, several older generation ipod/iphone alarm clock radios/docks, surfboards, etc all sorts of shit.

-The harder method of getting from corp bins doesn't work too well around here anymore, alot of them donate to resellers/recyclers so they can claim they're being good for environment and having their old tech re-used. You can find that shit all over the valley at a good markdown at stores like WeirdStuff

Lg g2
Dat screen to body ratio
Dat battery
Hardware is still breddy good, but kind of dated
Plenty of ROMs. Like, a fucking ton. And there's a good kernel for MM cooking.
Cons:
Just a tad too big.
Pretty old.
Cracking in left headphone: part hardware, part software problem, is fixed by changing one value in a config file but it's not included in any major ROM. Also makes volume a bit lower.
No sd card slot(there's one in Asian variants, but they have smaller battery).
ROMs are often buggy and finicky. Heavily depends on what state the internal partitions are in. Better start over with a TOT flashing, or some weird shit might occur.
Battery is bigger than in most phones, but there's no limit to it.
Camera is garbage. To be expected though.
I rate it 8/10, despite its flaws I'm having lots of good time with it that I wouldn't have with >90% of alternatives. I'm looking forward to X performance. The only other phone that is a truly worthy alternative to g2 is Nexus 6, but it's too big for me.

1. Galaxy S3.

2a. Overall specs, battery life and durability has made it hold up for the almost 4 years I've owned it.
2b. The lack of software updates and security patches has me somewhat concerned.
The increasingly higher RAM and performance requirements of newer and updated apps is making the experience with this phone less and less enjoyable.

MicroSD Card slot
Removable battery (Have 3 spare batteries and a wall charger, ZeroLemon for road trips etc.)
Unlocked bootloader because T-Mobile model
Got it for $200ish last year from a friend
Speaker is loud
Signal quality on LTE and 3G is extremely good compared to my previous phones
S-Pen is useful for taking quick notes, browsing desktop websites, and playing OpenTTD for Android

Was just testing something out. Here's a question: Why does the phone ship with a hardware compass but Android doesn't have any applications to read it? I mean it would take someone a few hours max to write an app to show the compass direction. Oh thats right, Android isn't a platform meant to be useful its just an avenue for Google to botnet, so they want you to go online and download some ad infested shitware

Android is the worst thing thats happened to computing in recent memory. It brought a resurgence of Java, its the most botnet software on the planet and sucks donkey balls by default.

i want to get a nexus 6p (£450) but the 32gb nexus 5x is now £270. that price difference is too big to ignore, but i worry that the 2 gigs of ram will be a major issue 2 years from now. also keep seeing people saying the 5x's performance is really inconsistent.

Well if you want a nexus and can't afford the 6P then get the 5X. Bear in mind LG didn't really give a shit about it so if you ever need replacement parts for it don't count on finding them.

You should buy it from a good source though in case you do need to RTV it for whatever reason.

it's cheaper elsewhere but the sellers don't seem particularly reliable, grey-market imports i suspect.
