Windows defender is all I use and that's because I make mistakes. I've never actually had a virus (well since I was 12 with limewire) but I like to be sure.
Technically, if you're 100% careful, you won't need anything running. Viruses don't just climb into your computer, it's the person behind the computer that lets them in.

yeah I had avira and malwarebytes on my old install for 18 months and avira didn't alert a single time and malwarebytes scan always came back as 0
I'm not even that careful, I click links without a second thought and use unfamiliar download sites etc. nothing blatantly retarded though
