My MBP is on it's way out. I've been thinking about a replacement, but decided on a Hackintosh build. For the same price as a new MBP I can buy a rig & a windows laptop. Means I get the best of both worlds: a OSX work environment & able to play PC games (which I've not done in a long time.)

Probably going to build something similar to: http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-builds/136386-storks-entry-level-hector-build-ga-h97n-wifi-i5-4690-hd4600-gtx-750-ti.html but with a 960 gfx card instead, because I like the idea of a mini-IDX, it fits the budget and that guy has autistically detailed how to get it going (which is a lot more involved than a standard linux/windows install.)

I'm open to suggestions though. Thoughts? Also post your builds/experiences.

I'd love to make a hackintosh next time I build a PC. I'm not an autist that hates every OS, I like parts of them all. Maybe I should look to keep my hardware compatible.

Sounds nice, but why not just build a standard CustoMac instead?

There's a list of hardware on this site: http://www.tonymacx86.com/building-customac-buyers-guide-march-2016.html truthfully it'll be the first time I built a rig in about 10 years, so I don't really have a clue about the hardware side of things these days.

I mean it sort of is one of the Customacs - the deluxe mini. I just really like the mini-IDX formfactor, although something larger might be more practical.

It is a good build yeah, and is a lot more straightforward than some of the other guides on there (http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capitan-laptop-support/148093-guide-booting-os-x-installer-laptops-clover.html) so you should be all set really.
I'm probably going to start trying to hackintosh my laptop later today actually. Good luck with yours!
