>external hotswap bay.
external hot swap networked storage devices are pricey, several hundred dollars for 4 drives.

Your cheapest option is to get a larger tower case with more internal 3.5" bays.

The cheapest option right now would be the LIAN LI PC-A75 for ~$170. It has 12 internal 3.5" bays, 4 more than your current case.

Your concern at this point would be SATA connections, but it looks like you have a free PCI-E slot, so you will just need another PCI-E SATA controller.

>>53914993
>need that much space
Most of us don't NEED that much space... but it's preferable.

I personally have 3x4TB HDDs and another ~3TB split among various smaller sized drives.

it's such a pain in the ass to do all that, and you will spend a good bit of money, but once it's done you will have a really solid network storage box.

Good luck man, I personally wont ever need that many drives (i hope), so I find a larger tower case to be my preferable setup.

This was my first build. Oh, to be a teenager again...the summers spent playing Diablo II, Unreal Tournament, Halo, Far Cry, and Battlefiled 2...With all the rice in the world, I never went hungry. A Pentium 4 (with hyper-threading, of course) and Asus mobo sourced from a prebuilt HP desktop were moved to one badass case. An NVidia 6800GT was the love of my life. Cold cathodes and LED fans warmed my heart.

A few years ago, when I was between builds, I found my first and tidied her up.

u wut m8? why throw money away like that?

don't get the 8350. it was considered antiquated in performance when it came out in 2012, and is even more so today.

the motherboard you picked is better quality than it.

just get a skylake i5 or i3. it will shit all over the 8350. even in multitasking scenarios, not just gaming.

i5 6400 would face rape the 8350 and the i3 6300 would butt rape it. or even get a haswell i5. you can easily offset the price difference between the 8350 and i5 6400 by going with a non z170 board. since you're getting a locked processor you can get away with a h170 or a h110 motherboard.

oh and get a 385 instead of the 380x. its not that much more and faster.

Really want to upgrade something. I don't know what though. Was thinking of a 2nd 980ti classy but I only have a single 32" 1440p monitor, so it'd be for nothing more than e-peen. Then was considering a 500gb m.2 ssd. But I'm not really short on storage.

Thinking of buying X99 in June. I get a bonus check from work, so I won't feel guilty buying it. Figure the Asus WS board, i7-5960X, 32gb ddr4 3200mhz. This is the only upgrade I'd utilize in all reality. Granted it is overkill for gaming, the threads will help tremendously for VMs and encoding.

used haswell or ivy.

that budget is terrible even for amd. you need at least a 8 phase board to run a 8 core amd house fire at stock. let alone overclock. you can get away with a 6 phase if you live in nova scotia.

they're the same reliability

Intel has better per core performance, with AMD you get better cheap options and more cores (and better overclocking)
>>
>>53925260
When will you people realize that "better overclocking" doesn't just mean higher MHz. The only reason it can overclock around 5ghz is because they aren't working very hard. It's like if you have a Mexican mowing the shit out of your lawn and you can't get him to mow any faster, but you have a Mexican who doesn't work hard but you can have a higher percentage push creating the false is silicon of "better"
Go ahead put that CPU up to 5ghz, it won't help anything and you will get no performance boost.
>>
>>53924339
in amd's case, no.

at beast, a 8350 at 4ghz will match a 4770k at stock in games when all cores are maxed out.

no matter what a 4770k can out overclock the 8350.

now with skylake? the gap has increased.

8350 barely keeps up with i5's now when core's are maxed out in games.

amd isn't competitive any longer in the gaming market. even in the non gaming segment its hard to justify a 8350 over a i5 for heavy multitasking.

intel dominates with its single threaded performance.

intel might be more, but it isn't much more, and the performance you get out ways the slight price increase.
>>
>>53925816
>even in the non gaming segment its hard to justify a 8350 over a i5 for heavy multitasking.
maybe on a budget but like you said, intel has such a massive lead its price increase in many aspects are worth saving up the extra $50 - $100.

That's true but broadwell-e won't really be a giant jump forward. Other than their 20 thread i7 they have planned. But the 16 thread 5960X would be more than enough.

There is a 600w Silver Stone Modular Titanium rated PSU for only $150. Or if you really think you NEED more power, the 800w unit is $180.

Why spend over $100 more? You have no need for 1000w, your system will barely draw over 300w. Even adding a 2nd 390x would only bring you up to around 550w at full draw.

Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of it, and I built it for someone else so I don't have it anymore.
