Good language or best language?
I've been out of the web app game for awhile, but codeigniter was so good and so fast. Will php 7 bring laravel the performance codeigniter once had?

PHP7 will make the web great again and make animu real.

What makes it so much faster?
>>53907678
No.

It's not doing so much and not using a template language inside of another template language.
Forget about CI, it's dead, but I don't think Laravel will ever be fast.

I'd rather use NodeJS or Ruby on Rails
PHP is deprecated shit
>>53908559
PHP is eternal and will outlive both of those
>>53908866
Yeah I was just baiting
Is it actually good? Should I learn it even if I don't care about webdev?
>>53909054
No. PHP is literally shit. Not even the "code artisans" of Laravel can fix it.

I don't get why CodeIgniter fell out of favor. Fast, simple, elegant, has some structure so the project isn't chaos, but not so rigid that you can't do what you need to. It just seems like everyone fell in love with Laravel despite its performance being absolute garbage and the fact that everything is Laravel-ish. You do it their way or you don't do it. CodeIgniter lets you use as much or as little as appropriate.

I'm using Yii. Only complaint is the ridiculous JavaScript-inspired object notation.
