So close, but so far to literally the perfect Nexus phone.

>better battery
>dual front facing speakers

That's literally all it needs. Performance is great. Screen is just the right size at 5.2. Design is simple and attractive. Finger print reader works beautifully. USB Type-C with fast charging is a huge plus.

I really hope this isn't the last Nexus 5 we see. It's apparently not selling to great and everyone's sucking off phablet size 6" phone.

Wow, long time Nexus 5 user here. My only complaint is lack of sd and just now realized the 5x doesnt have it either.

What the fuck were they thinking?

What exactly do you store on your phone? My last phone was Moto G 3rd Gen 16GB+32GB MicroSD card and I never came close to filling it up.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to have, but at 32GB+ storage I don't the lack of expandable storage is a big deal.

Google wants you to use muh cloud and will never add an SD slot. Annoying.

The Nexus 5X is so close to being great, but the horrendous build quality keeps it away from perfection. The buttons are so flimsy and weak they might as well not fucking be there.

The Nexus Lin died to me when removable storage was no long a thing. I was dead set on the 6p until they revealed no extra storage.

Get a Motorola moto X pure. $400 brand new for the 32gb model. Additional storage. Full stock Android.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a 5X these upcoming months. My budget is below 350$ and I'm on T-Mobile so OPX wasn't an option. I just want a stock Android phone, should I wait for the next Nexii? And if I do, what's the probability they'll release a budget phone along with a flagship?

It's hard to say. Nexus 5x wasn't really budget when it launched. It was like $400+ for the 32GB variant. It's been on sale constantly for the last few months. I got a 32GB model for $250 with the Project Fi sale so I have no complaints, but for $400 I'd probably want more.

If Google was smart they'd launch a Nexus 5 at ~$200-$250 and a premium Nexus 6 at $400+.

Anyways, if you can get a 32GB 5x for below $300 I'd say it's definily worth it. It's a solid phone and shoudl be getting N, O and very likely the P update as well.

I don't have stuff that I normally store on my phone that goes over 32GB, but when I DO have the space I load up a bunch of movies, computer repair ISOs, and cache google maps.

I'm honestly sorta regretting getting a Nexus 6P when I could have gotten a MXP for way cheaper.

Amazing phone. I got mine for $200 off a buddy when he bought a new phone. Threw in a 64gb microSD card and away I go. Beautiful bright screen and the camera is amazing. The 6p is a great phone don't get me wrong, but the lack of additional storage is a no no for me.

Thanks anon I was mostly concerned if it the 5X would be future proof for the N release and O. Hopefully P wouldn't be pushing it.

try working on AOSP with your motorola phone
protip: you can't

It's a Nexus device. It's definitely future proof. The Nexus 5 got an OTA for Android M. Rumor that it might even get Android N as well.

the only problem I have with the Nexus devices, especially their Qualcomm ones, is their heavy dependance on closed binaries. No way to easily port newer versions if they change the HAL.
