Just in case you are really challenged and not just trolling, "a few opengl calls" implies fixed pipeline since programmable opengl pipeline is a lot more than a "few" opengl calls.

Nah, binding some simple shader and pushing some geometry onto the screen is pretty simple with modern OpenGL.
