I remember reading this 17 years ago. Thanks to the internet I can look it up and relive it now.

>I recently read an article about the Rhodope Mountain people in Bulgaria. They live forever -- they've got one of the highest ratios of centenarians in the world. The one common denominator, a doctor who studied the group said: they don't wear watches.

It helps that they put it in between the numerals. Besides 'titanium' which is in a really interesting spot. I assumed they were going to put it at 9 o clock but then it was too big and conflicted with "21" so they dropped down instead of reducing its size.

In most cases, no, that's a myth.

>Avoid washing a water resistant watch directly under running water. Wash it in still water in a sink or a receptacle.
>>
My local Seiko service center offers a regulating service for $10. Do we need to do this for a newly purchased automatic watch?
>>
>>53898055
You only need it if it's running out of spec
>>
>>53898055
Depends on just how much times yours gains/loses. Might be bearable, might not be. Wear it for a fortnight or so and see how the time is on it.
>>
>>53898006
Your sink or shower only puts out a few PSI, it's just not enough to make a difference. Watch companies put that sort of bullshit in because like everyone they want as many excuses as possible to not provide warranty service.
>>
>>53898201
I understand this, but i'll still take it off to shower.. no drawbacks
>>
>>53898201
Actually the real reason is that some watches' water resistance increases with pressure. This is the notable case of Amphibias, which are more airtight 100m deep than at sea level. So obviously, a sudden, directed, strong jet of water precisely hitting at a junction would allow water to get in.

This is an unrealistic scenario though, whether it's the eventuality of encountering such a jet of water, or the fact Amphibias are still very waterproof at sea level.

I really hate how popular the 6,9,12 subdial arrangement got. It's hard to find an affordable chronograph without it. It looks unbalanced.
>>
Probably stupid question but is there a more scientific way to calculate how much faster or slower the time is running per day on an automatic watch?
>>
>>53899088
Meh, nothing special. A regulated 6R15 can achieve such a result.
>>
>>53899645
Somewhat of a stupid question, but it depends on how the whole machine works and on the enviroment.

It depends on how the regulator is set, in what condition are the rest of the watch innards, magnetism to some degree, ambient temperature, and positional variance among things.

There is no truth to the jet/running water myth. Nothing to it. If your watch is 100m water resistant, and you've actually had it pressure tested, and you don't SCUBA dive, it will never leak while you're wearing it.

it's a pretty sick watch I would keep it, not a lot of people really have it either because they can't justify the 2-3 hundred for it over a seiko when they won't be buying many mid range watches. It's a cool watch people get when they already have some other shit and have money to just get whatever they want around 2-300.

With brands like these, I feel like you always have to expect that you might be disappointed with what you get. I think Tisell>Parnis, though. Apparently, Parnis isn't a true brand, but just a name that different Chinese manufacturers with similar boxes of parts stamp on watches that they produce.

I'm not an expert on Vostoks but they're fairly reliable and can last for decades, plus if the movement go's bust they're dirt cheap to replace. As for accuracy, from what I've heard they're not so great, but good enough to for fill the general need of timekeeping.

Overall they're generally good only at the sacrifice of accuracy. But you do get a large amount of customisation/modding options with Vostok watches plus they're dirt cheap to fix and replace parts.

/fa/ threads are always kinda boring, too much kinds into "muh minimalistic" trend.

I post more often than you think, but not always with my nametag. I have noticed that, when I post in a anonymous matter, people tend to be more perceptive and objective. See the opposite effect with NineBalls. Since I had to write about my personal experience I thought, why not?

Plus, I can only write about my collection for so much before I start sounding like an ungrateful snob brat.

My first concern is the size. Are you sure you'll feel comfortable with all that metal in tge sides? Second, unless I'm not seeing fine, that looks like PVD. If you're that active you may prefer a simple metal finishing, like brushed titanium, as the black will wear off really fast otherwise.

Also, as with anyother person with limited resources, I suggest you to check the second hand market before pulling the trigger. The imperial is made in very limited quantities, so that first.

Which onw do you covet the most? Unless you need one for a specific situation say, the Celadon for gormal attire at work, go with the one you feel more urge in buying. Follow your heart anon!!

Also, with manufactures as small as Celadon you pretty much don't have other choice but to buy from them but, as I said before Ben(jamin) Chee is a really cool guy and it's well worth the experience. You'll appreciate it more than a few saved bucks.

Yeah the metal edges don't concern me too much, and the bulk isn't too much of a problem for me as I'll really only be using it when outdoors. Any exposed metal that is covered with a colored material will eventually show wear and start reveling the inner metal, disregarding if it is PVD, plate, TiAN, heat-colored or even patina, although the last one will endure far more, as it bonds with the metal. That's why high-end manufactures tend to prefer colored materials, like carbon fiber, ceramic, or even minerals, instead of selling something that will show bright edges in a few years. The bezel will age badly and I think it's something you should consider. Regarding the caliber, well, this type if watches are very reliable, so you'll probably safe in that area.
