Fixing up an old Vostro 200.
What should I do to this old prebuilt?
I am upgrading the CPU from a Pentium D to a Core 2 Duo, and also looking for a cheap 4GB kit.
What would you guys do with it?

With a few upgrades this computer would not be that bad. I could even do some mods to the case to improve airflow, and paint it and shit.
Slap in Windows XP and 7, and it would bring back some old memories.

Motherboard does not support a C2Q.
I will get a C2D for it, I don't know about an SSD because this PC is sata 2, I do have an extra pcie slot so I could mount a pcie ssd.

I was using an Athlon 64 x2 3800 prebuilt for a while while waiting on parts. Put a spare ssd in it for boot. 2Gib PC6400, and a HD 3850 I had lying around. Ran great for general use. With a 3ghz upgrade it would be really nice. Only really struggled with HD streams, frame interpolated on disk playback was perfect with respective tweaks.
Really made me give the AM1 socket 5350 a second look as a viable solution for average use. (CPU + mobo + 8 Gib 1866 ram + 120 Gib ssd for 200$)
Funny that you posted this OP, I just got a Vostro 220 from my office after they upgraded. It doesn't have a Pentium D, but it does have a Pentium E6550 and a Radeon HD3600. It runs videos in 720p just fine, I have it hooked up to my TV for that purpose.
