TV sales declined, so the powers that be said "This can't be the end". They say that the VR push is happening because they want another piece of plastic to sell, not because it's good or will ever have a Killer App. This is why the consumers are pissed - no raison d'etre, just another unit shoved down our throats like the Wii.
