I've never used any so called "social networking" services at all because I hate them.
My dad registered on Facebook a few months ago because he wanted to follow my nephew.
My nephew took a few pictures of me on christmas.
Fast forward..
I just got a SMS on my personal phone number that I never shared with anyone outside of my friend circle from a number that I don't know.
It basically tells me to download a virus and the sender is my mother's name.
What the actual fuck?
Did you download the viruz?
>>53887871
I'm 100% serious about this. The SMS told me that my actual mother with her full name wanted me to reply.
>>53887871
thats what you get for having normie friends/senpai
>>53887871
Download it my man
>>53887907
I only use dumbphones for this reason.
They literally got me through someone taking a picture of me on christmas.
I don't know what to do anymore.
This is not a bait thread. It just really happened to me in Germany in the middle of the night.
I really just woke up to a SMS that was fake sent from my mother.
Your dad got some Android malware and it spammed his contact list.
Your moms phone got hacked? probably some shitty android malware
>>53887871
Get raped by stagefright, let us know how it works out.
>>53887871
Tell your nephew to stop downloading shitty ass apps or watching porn on his phone. Had the same thing happen due to a friend of mine. Not really anything you can do about it man, other than send a msg directly back to the person who supposedly sent it with some Internet 101 pointers.
>>53887958
>>53887961
Both of my parents are 70+ and don't use Smartphones. The only real link is my dad's Facebook account.
What frightens me the most is how fast this has happened.
They already know my phone number.
This is what happened to a lot of people when they could -at best- operate a TV remote before they got avalanche'd by all this new, 24/7 connected tech. They got ass-raped by even the simplest malicious software that does just the bare minimun to hide the shit it is.
Fuckin tech illiterates.
>>53887979
He's 15 and in fucking puberty right now. Anyone telling him to stop being retarded is just shut off for good.
>>53887997
If you ever signed up for any website and gave it your phone number and name
database probably got hacked, dumped
now its a free-for-all for spammers
happens ALL THE TIME
>>53888038
I'm really serious about all my accounts and passwords.
I have a strict rule that every single account has to have a password of at least 16 lowercase and uppercase characters plus a few uniques.
That's what makes it even more crazy.
Also:
I just got ANOTHER SMS on my phone that tells me to follow another url to a malware site.
Like right now.
>>53888103
I really just got another SMS from an unknown number telling me that I should respond.
I'll try to get a memory card into my dumbphone so I can take pics.
>>53888103
Lots of shitty websites store user passwords in cleartext.
>>53888189
What really worries me is how they got my phone number.
I've never used any social networking sites ever.
Like really never.
And they still got my phone number. They think that it's my mom's phone number but it's really so fucking close. How were they able to target my family?
Can we please discuss this more?
I'm really worried right now.
What exaclty are you asking with this thread?
It's common knowledge that Facebook asks users to import their address books to find friends^W^W gather more data.
One of your friends has your phone number and gave it to Facebook.
>>53888302
That's what actually gets me. I never gave my phone number to anyone. Not even to the closest members of my Family.
The only person that knows my number is a close friend that also opposes social media.
>>53888302
>>53888326 again
Not a single one of my friends uses social media.
That's what really got me curious.
>>53888219
>And they still got my phone number. They think that it's my mom's phone number but it's really so fucking close. How were they able to target my family?
your mum entered your number by mistake to some dodgy site and now the site is sending what it thinks to be your mother, presumed to have an android phone, to links of viruses
what is so fucking hard to understand
the botnet is real but it isn't facebook or social media in this case
>>53888363
That is the problem.
My mom doesn't touch computers because she thinks that it a machine of the devil.
She never touched computers in her whole life.
We're talking about people above the age of 70 here.
That is the whole problem.
>The botnet got your personal cell phone number from a picture of you
Jesus dude, how high are you right now? Be honest
>>53887871
As others are pointing out, it's probably not FB in your case.
Here's a freaky FB story though:
>be me
>client asked me to setup a FB page for his business
>FB requires that a business page be backed by a personal one
>NOTE: i've never had a FB account
>i load a virtual machine
>clean as fuck chrome with no history/cookies/etc
>create FB account for client - naturally it's all his info
>create FB business page for client
>everything looks good
>click back to the personal page for a moment
>see recommended friends list
>WHAT THE HOLY FUCK
Facebook was recommending people I know. Remember, I've never had FB.
Here's the really fucked up part: one recommendation was an ex girlfriend I had back in 2004 and haven't spoken to since probably 2006. This was back when Facebook was just getting started, and neither of us knew WTF it was!
How the fuck did it link me to her??? How the fuck does FB have any idea who I am when:
>i've never had a fb account
>i was using a clean browser
>on a clean VM
>my home IP is not static
That's some fucked up crazy shit.
>>53888363
>>53888406
You have to realize that I'm posting from Germany. Facebook is not the almighty overlord yet over here. I have never registered to FB, and my family has not done it either.
>>53888473
Also my family does not own a single "smartphone"
>>53888398
so someone else who knows your mothers or your phone number (or just your mother's if it's possible to typo to your phone number) entered the number somewhere
it doesn't even have to be computer related, someone could have written the number on an application for something
facebook aren't likely to waste time engaging in illegal activities to try and do low effort virus attacks when they're literally making bank from the information people voluntarily give them
>>53888398
Your mom writes your phone # on bathroom stalls:
>for a good time SMS a virus to my son: ###-####
>>53888555
That's the fun part.
Literally 4 people know my mom's phone number and 3 of them are he siblings.
She's 72 and she doesn't even use the phone. EVER.
But it's linked to me. And now I get spam SMS telling me to go to malware sites 3-4 times a day even though my phone isn't even capable of doing that.
>>53887952
I've noticed an increase in automated calling spam and check out unknown numbers first at home and work. Someone on the internet mentioned it could be a way of probing the device for its location.
>>53888595
Oh also I get notifications of MMS that tell me to go to malware sites all the fucking time.
My inbox is filled with malware so much that I don't want to check it anymore.
>>53888416
Is the botnet this fucking bad? I used to have a Facebook account but deactivated it because somebody wanted to leak a video of my penis.
>>53888416
FB actually tried to link me to an ex gf I had in 2006 right now.
I literally just got a SMS on my phone that told me to hook up with her.
Like really just now. My phone rang and it told me to hook upl.
>>53888595
post links to the sites, I'm curious.
>>53888759
You must be over the age of 18 to browse this site.
>>53888859
I'm actually really 33 years old. Sorry :/
>>53888902 dumbphone pic from a sd card
>>53889153
Stop taking drugs, Bernd
>>53889153
>>53889172
>>53889366
Tried to take a picture of the actual mess that I\m living in right now.
Sorry that it isn't more detailed, but this is a huge pile of wipes that I've been amassing for at least 6 months.
>>53889494
Also yes that thing in the lower back with the red point is a soy sauce fish.
>>53889153
>>53889172
>>53889366
>>53889494
>>53889518
Sorry If I don't give you more pics but the process is actually taking them in my dumbphone, then taking the flashcard out and putting it into a reader on my PC.
It's kind of annoying.
>>53889153
>>53889172
CRT on the left is this one just btw.
REALLY good CRT
