My router logs show requests from an ip owned by my ISP to random high numbered ports on my router. The requests come from port 53, but why would my ISP be sending me dns pings?

If I block the IP address will it disable my dns?

I've had the same experience. Contacted my ISP some months ago, no answer yet.

Block that port, see what happens

By any chance could they be DNS replies from your ISP's DNS server? Because UDP is stateless, and your router probably doesn't track the replies correctly. The high-numbered ports would be your source ports.
