You can schedule your computer to disconnect unused harddisks and optical drives. Set custom fan profiles so the fan isn't running faster than it need be. Turn off the speakers/monitor. Disconnect keyboard/mouse. Add an ssd. Check into bio c for supported intel cpu states.

I have a Nexus 5, I want to be independent of Jewgle.
There are replacements for pretty much all my apps (shame about my paid ones but oh well) except Dropbox. Is there an easy way to replace Dropbox with a home server? Like get a hard drive, Raspberry Pi, set it up at my place and leave it running 24/7? Is it even necessary to have it running all the time, i.e. can I take it to my mom's place, hook it up again and access the files online?

Questions:
> Is there an AOSP ROM for the Nexus 5 that doesn't use any Google services?
> How do I into cheap home server (no monthly fee if possible apart from ISP obviously)?

Was your driver angry that you destroyed his computer? Why does he want to insert USB Memory in your laptop? Are you being held hostage?

Anyway it sounds like your having problems with your usb controller drivers. Go to device manager ad see what's missing exactly. Device driver -> device that's missing drivers -> Details (or something like that) -> hardware ID -> google -> download -> either email them to yourself (anywhere between 5mb-20mb or use some app that transfers files wirelessly from your phone e.g. Share via HTTP from f-droid) or use your computer's bluetooth if available or if you have another pc/laptop just put it in a shared folder and access it from there. Using your phone is the simplest choice.

I have an old 500 GB HDD I can use; I don't need exorbitant amounts of online storage, just enough for all my downloaded pictures for easy shitposting from my devices and some uni-related shit so I can access it on other computers. I'm assuming there are guides for setting up an rbpi home server?

Reflashed Google-free AOSP image on my tablet, now I'm rooting and installing f-droid. Fuck yes.

Is it even a good idea to forgo the monthly security updates for the Nexus in favor of using FOSS only?

So recently I asked here why my computer can't get itself out of sleep mode even when the power button is held down for a long time (only way to fix it is to flick the PSU switch), and I was told it might be because the motherboard is dying.

On top of that issue, lately it's been having trouble booting up. It can POST, and then it says it's loading this Asus Express Gate, but it freezes up there before I'm able to see the BIOS splash screen, so I'm unable to access the BIOS. Holding down the power button at this time actually does turn it off, and usually doing this makes it load the splash screen and then Windows 7 starts loading up. So this morning I looked into why this might be happening and what the Express Gate even is, and it turns out it's something completely optional and disabling it usually fixes this problem. It managed to get to the splash screen, I disabled it, rebooted, and while it looked like it was working just fine, it froze at the splash screen and didn't go any further than that. Couldn't get into the BIOS if I left it for a few seconds. So I restarted, re-enabled the Express Gate, but now it's refusing to load the splash screen. I'm not too sure how to fix this. I looked around earlier to see how to fix this, but people are either recommending that I go into the BIOS when I can't, or change the CMOS battery. Would that really fix this?

Also, I've noticed that sometimes it doesn't actually shut down. It'll just stay on indefinitely. For example: I turned it off one night as sleep mode doesn't like working now, went to bed, woke up and it was still on but the screens were black. So occasionally I have to flick the PSU switch or hold down the power button to actually get it to turn off.

Do you guys reckon these are motherboard issues? My computer is pretty old so I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

How do I connect a previously paired bluetooth device with my windows computer that's not automatically reconnecting?

In the "add a bluetooth device" settings menu it shows that it's "paired" the device is on and there's no obvious method to connect this already paired device.

I just have select "remove device" and then put the bluetooth speaker back into pairing mode and pair it like it was the first time.

There must be an easier method of doing this but I can't for the life of me figure it out.

It's stable, yes. Get a release version and enjoy.
I think CM can self-update if you want it to. But you could also just flash the new version when you want to upgrade, it's easy as fuck once everything is set up.
By the way I had little success with CM13; it seemed to flash correctly on the G2 but didn't boot. CM12.1 works like a charm though.

inspect element
you should have the img tag selected.
check the css attributes on the right side, there's a background-image attribute with a bas64 image.
copy that string (including data:image/png) and paste it into your urlbar

you could probably make a small script that puts the background-image into the images src attribute so you could just right click it.

This is pretty much all you need, plus your favorite search provider if (when) you run into problems. I know setting up ADB first was kind of a pain but once it's running you can happily flash whatever you want.

Ideally the basic steps are:
> gain root access through exploit
> go into download / fastboot mode
> flash recovery image (.img file)
> boot into newly flashed recovery
> flash ROM (.zip file)
> reboot into system, then again into recovery
> flash any additional things like GApps (if you need the Play Store) and SuperSU (if you want root access)
> reboot into system and set up your device as normal

Is it normal to keep my computers hardware updated to the latest and greatest, spending tones of money in new parts, just for bragging rights? Calories are calories. Something very small is negligible only when compared to something much bigger.

A petty amount multiplied by a brutal number, it's a brutal number. If you have any doubts left, go ask the banks and their fees.

tl;dr
Don't bother counting calories of negligible stuff. e.g. 1 apple vs 1 gallon of milk.
But count them when they're many negligible amounts.

Depends on the data size we are talking about.

For smaller stuff (up to 40 pages):
Print it out and send it per post.
Make sure you throw away the printer afterwards. Leave no DNA traces (don't lick the envelope), weak gloves when you touch the paper, use paper that is widespread.

For bigger stuff (up to some MB):
You could use a shark lasers mail adress from an anonymous internet shop.

For very big stuff:
You should consider getting into contact with someone from the press. Make an anonymous call and propose a meeting.

Or if you want to stay anonymous at all costs, buy a storage (something which get bought a lot, try to not get on tape in a store! Getting hardware is the tricky part). Put it in a parcel and send it to them. Never touch the device at any time without protection. Just plug it in once (from a clean laptop) and copy the stuff on it. don't do anything else with it.

Send the parcel form a differnt town.

Windows 7 and above have window audio controls. Check your mixer controls if it's being put on mute and just unmute it. That's probably the reason.
>>
>>53884626

In many countries there are postboxes that allow to send stuff anonymously. And even if it's only digital I'd rather put in on an USB device and send it per post..

But it all depends on the level of "interest" we are talking about. If it's interesting enough to get a TLA organisation on your trail, they can (and WILL) find out the place where you send it from. Sooner or later.

If it's interesting enough, I'd buy differnt clothes, drive to a different place, buy a device there, go to another place (maybe even another country, depending where you live), send it somehow (or ask someone to send it for you) with a false adress and name on it..

You could also use someone (Wikileaks?) and ask them politely to throw away the medium you were using.

Anyhow what you want is a "layered defense". A good layered defense consists of serveral differnt media. Just be creative.
If you use only electronic channels you really have to know what you are doing.

Yes there will be low/mid-range Pascal/Polaris cards. We have no idea what they will cost though, or how they will perform. You just have to wait and see. Stick with your 380 and wait for benchmarks.

College isn't bad if you don't want to work hard to build a portfolio and want to work for big corporate companies.

If you have a lot of Github contributions and have fun learning programming and actually doing it then you're probably wasting your time.

There's also benefits of college outside of the actual degree like networking, expanding social circles, access to college equipment, free gym, etc.

green isn't performance oriented at all. If you don't use it for storage it'll be slow laggy and a headache. Seagate and wd have pretty much the exactly the same failure rates if the drive was built in 2015. Green drives sleep when not in use so they save power but may have some latency issues. It's fine if it's only for storage but it's capable of handling just that, storage. Don't think you can do much else with it, and if you don't, it's perfectly fine for the job. If it doesn't fail in the first year then you're all set.
