why are batteries so shit? is there some sort of physical limitation that makes it impossible to have more efficient batteries? can't we use other technologies? will there ever be some technological breakthrough that'll allow our phone/laptop/car batteries to last 10 times longer? or at least charge much faster?

battery technology has improved leaps and bounds in the past few years. you just don't notice because mobile devices are also getting more and more powerful, with more mobile users playing games and watching movies.

On portable devices moar cores is not the same as a desktop.
On a mobil device that means that they have different max speeds. And the slower ones are more efficient. This allows the phone to use as little energy as possible then ramp up when it needs it.
As someone who's worked on batteries. Fuck you guys. This shit's not easy and you really undervalue how fucking power hungry your fucking shitposts are.
Because we can't use betavoltaics. So we have to settle for something which won't give you cancer and way less expensive.
