>apply for entry level programming jobs
>get a response regarding a Java dev position
>interview three times, whiteboard and online Java tests
>get offer
>start job, 7 months in, haven't programmed once
>work on mind numbingly boring Oracle Access and Identity management software all day
>havent gained any programming experience whatsoever
is there anything remotely as soulsucking as enterprise Java solutions?
this is why I don't apply for jobs that list bullshit "duties" that I would be doing
you just know they will screw you around

Wait, so can you describe what you do if you don't actually program? Is your salary comparable to other software devs? At least you're set with job experience whenever you decide you've had enough.
Enterprise Java (and non Java shit) can be so complicated that there are plenty of jobs for people to work with software and do zero programming on said software. It is kind of hard at times but I find joy in the technical activities I get to do (performance tracing, setting up security, problem analysis, etc.) even though I don't code.

IKTF bro.
I started at a C# company and my first 2-3 months were writing shitty UIs in their ultra-shitty proprietary XML UI framework where all error messages for misplaced tags or attributes were nullreferenceexceptions.
I told my manager that I applied for a C# programming job and that I felt tricked into that position. He got me some actual programming work.
It was my first job and really shitty job. I should never have stuck it out for a year to avoid it looking bad on my resume.
I should have kept applying to better jobs and just jumped ship the second I got one.

isn't level 1/2 literally not anything technical?
