Does /g/ use wireless for their PC? Because the network card I have is a useless piece of crap. Should I just go get a longer ethernet cable or is it worth it invest in a better network card?
running a cable is always the way to go. it's easy to run through the wall, or you can just lay it on the floor.
Wifi is mostly used for mobility, if you're getting a pcie card look for something that does 1900 AC. They're usually around 80+ dollars

longer ethernet
Thanks to retarded construction workers my ethernet cable is fucked, I'm using a shitty next usb wifi antenna, it's as fast as my laptop's wifi. 12mbps at ~25 meters.

These are all issues, and long ethernet is the way to go, but it isn't always realistic. I live in a place with cat5 in every room, yet I have to use a wireless adapter because of rule stickling net installation workers

I have that wifi card in your pic OP. I've been using it for a year now in my main rig and it's been flawless, indistinguishable from when I was on Ethernet. I am relatively close to my router (one room away and one floor up) but I still get 0% loss and 1ms pings every single time. I'm able to do anything I would do normally while wired, including online gaming, torrenting and watching multiple streams at a time.
However, that's because I use the 5Ghz band, for which there is no alternative. 2.4Ghz is a complete shitshow at any range. Do not use a WiFi card if you don't have a dual band router that operates at 5Ghz.
If that's the card you have (N900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter
TL-WDN4800) then you shouldn't have any problems provided you are using the 5Ghz band and are within a decent range of your router without severe obstructions.

PCI connected networking is a bad idea. DMA access to your memory, unaudited binary firmware blobs, etc.
Use USB. The TPLINK TL-WN722N is a good choice and has open firmware.

Got ASUS PCE-N15 Wireless Adapter. Works well, cheap, no complaints.

mah nigga
PCE-N10 report in
But I would recommend getting AC standard networking card for güd speed
I have a 50 foot Cat6a cable. Good shit.

If I did not have ethernet already set up I would get two good wireless cards and bridge them.
Shits pretty good these days.
If you have fast Internet like i do, wifi or cable doesnt matter that much. I have 10 times the speed on my pc but very few servers can actually use all that bandwidth. Uplay out of all things is one of them.

I have to use a wifi card instead of running Ethernet because I'm renting this house. I'm using a fenvi PCI-e wifi and Bluetooth adapter and it works alright. It can keep up with my 10Mbps internet connection and A2DP never drops out or stutters unless I'm in Windows, which is all I need it to do.

For the cost of a wnic card u can get a crimping tool and a spool of cable. Unless you intend on bringing your tower to places that only have wireless, I see no reason to go that route.

You're cute
Is your router and modem old? That's probably a bigger problem than your network card.
