Somehow, despite being one of the biggest tech companies and presumably having huge available budget, Microsoft has still managed to shit out some of the worst OS in the history of computing

Guys, should I switch to Arch Linux + KDE?

Microsoft uses draconian laws to prevent anyone from popping the hood on Windows and studying the source code that underlies it. Because of this, the world's most widespread computer system is completely outside the control of its users. This puts Microsoft in a dominant position over its customers, which it takes advantage of to treat them as a product. In fact, Microsoft announced that, with Windows 10, it will begin forcing lower-paying users to test less-secure new updates before giving higher-paying users the option of whether or not to adopt them.

Increased public scrutiny has forced Microsoft to adjust its advertising to focus on how secure it is and how well it protects privacy. But who does it secure and protect? Certainly not the user. Since Windows 10 is nonfree software, users and independent security experts can't access the source code, so they are forced to take Microsoft's word for it that their computers are safe and their data is being used responsibly. And it hardly seems warranted to trust a company that is reported to give the NSA special security tip-offs that it could use to crack into Windows computers.

Advertising companies are surely licking their chops over Windows 10's new privacy policy, which asserts the privilege to sell almost any information it wants about users, even creating a unique advertising ID for each user to sweeten the deal.

Do you guys really believe that idiotic shit? I mean did you even check the videos -- he copies 1000 BYTES as binary data, executes a magic RSA_Decryptor executable without any crypt key and it turns into two full-sized PNG screenshots? 1kb of "encrypted" data? kek

By contrast, free software like the GNU/Linux operating system is developed by professional and volunteer communities working transparently, freely sharing their work with each other and the world. Users have meaningful influence over the software development process and complete choice over what code they run. This means the software usually treats them with respect. Even if a free software developer took a page from Microsoft's book and began abusing its users, it would have no way to keep them locked in -- when this happens, independent experts copy the source code, remove the offending bits and help people switch to the user-respecting version.

Because it is fundamentally insecure and scoffs at privacy, Windows is an open window onto you. Because it locks users and independent experts out of the development process, it is also a locked door to your computer, and only Microsoft has the key. If you are considering replacing your operating system with Windows 10, we hope you switch to GNU/Linux instead. Join thousands of others and pledge to try GNU/Linux today.

The FSF maintains a list of endorsed GNU/Linux distributions, and there are myriad resources online for getting started. If you want to try free software but you can't be persuaded to leave Windows quite yet, try these free programs that work on Windows. If you are thinking about buying a new computer, check out the laptops we certify through our Respects Your Freedom program. If you're the type that builds their own computer, use h-node, the community-maintained database of computer components that work well with free software.

We can't hope to match Microsoft's huge advertising budget, but if you're on social media (see our recommendations for user-respecting social media systems) you can help raise awareness of Windows' abuses and encourage people to switch, in your own words. Help us jam Microsoft's ridiculous #UpgradeYourWorld hashtag by including it in your posts encouraging people to steer clear of Windows.

The internet is literally filled with windows 10 analysis blogs, even Microsoft themselfes confirmed that video, audio and keystrokes are recorded.

Temporarily banning Windows users from /g/ would solve this, unless those guys are dedicated enough to hide their OS.

While we're at it, let's have the same for Mac users too. Then we see what kind of threads there really are under all that paid shilling.
>>

Look, I don't like Windows 10 either but putting this on the list is RETARDED. He copies 1000 bytes of binary data out of his sniffer application and turns it into 2 full-sized PNG screenshots. That is LITERALLY impossible.

And whatever you just said is complete bullshit, it's a magic RSA decryptor without any key used. Idiot, idiot, idiot. Everything else might be true -- but that video is clearly fake.

What most people forget, Windows 10 isn't only a technical problem. With Windows 10 a company tries to make total surveillence "a normal thing" and we must not allow them to success, or others will follow.

>>
>>53859555
Geez not this faggot again.

A good chunk of these are fake or were true for the technical preview (which has always had stuff like this IIRC), but aren't true anymore. Sources:

This (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDeHqiydk4A) is verifiably false just by using some common sense. You can't store 2 full-size png screenshots in 1000 bytes.

This (https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeronet.cz) is the wikipedia page for the site that the original Czech article I mentioned above was posted on. It's in czech as well, and google translate for some reason refuses to translate the whole page at once, but you can still copy paste the text and you will see that in the very first sentence it talks about its credibility, or lack of it, anyway.

>Aeronet.cz (or AE News) is written in Czech Internet server, the content of which outweigh difficult to verify reports and speculation.^[1](http://www.respekt.cz/z-noveho-cisla/putinuv-hlas-v-cesku)

Later in the article you see things like this (section 4):

>Most of the disclosed reports can not not verifiable, they are speculative and difficult to verify reports describing the events of prokremelského perspective.

>Aeronet.cz example, also published false information about the presence of 2,200 troops in NATO děbalcevském boiler on the frontline of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which at the same time spread also Czech Communist MEP Miloslav Ransdorf.

>Report on Extremism Ministry of Interior for the first quarter of 2015 stated Aeronet as one of the "wannabe news portals," whose long-term effects had a significant effect on the occurrence of a huge amount of disinformation in connection with the so-called. Dragounská driving American troops across the Czech Republic, with the intention active influencing public opinion. These were reportedly misinformation disseminated on social networks and they were also pointed out reputable media or regional policy.

Windows 10 might be a botnet, but you're a retard.

It will die probably. Are there good irc channels?
>>
>>53859598
No, switch to Arch Linux + GNOME
>>

How did you buy it? Isn't windows 10 enterprise only available for volume licensing and OEM?

If you are not a big business, I thought Microsoft allowed no way for you to remain off the botnet.

>>53860263
Why do you think GNOME is better than Plasma?

Eh, sometimes good sometimes bad, a bunch of shitposting and of course modded forums are always censured. I get the impression the community is pretty mobile and you just need to know enough people who will give you a heads up when a channel is hotting up. That's why image boards are so comfy desu sempai.

Kind of fucked up that winidiots are almost paying albanian hackers to write antimalware software to protect themselves from their own non-free OS.

From MSDN
Apparently they allow it for smaller business too
>>
>>53860484
If that's the only reason it doesn't seem very important to me. But thank you for the heads-up.

You really are an autist. I just took a screenshot of a relatively complex background with a window obscuring most of it in a 640x480 VM, cranked compression settings on the PNG as high as they would go, and it was still 80kb. It's literally impossible and if you think that's true then you're as big of an autist as the guy who made it. No, even bigger because at least that autist knew he was autistic. Not to mention the fact that he literally just ran the file through a magic "RSA Decryptor" without a key, and remember: he got TWO of those screenshots out of it, and I'm pretty sure his resolution was set to at least 800x600. It's bull, cut your crap and quit being an autist.

Since I installed Windows 10 the strain on my hard Drive has been 100% all the time. I turned off Windows Search and some other process Today and it's around 5% now.
Ridiculous that an OS has such taxing processes running by default

This is bullshit. The source doesn't work as part of OSG, and is likely stuck somewhere in the BI unit.

I honestly wonder why you, gentlemen, do not use like me XP.

It is ignored by evil hackers, microsoft updates and jews.

It is completely manageable on a security level.

It has good 3rd party software that close you up from NSA and other rats.

XP

Not trying to shill here but do you guys really think that "shitposting" will make your irrelevant "OS" more relevant?

They are both correct, one sorted by OS (mac osx gets disadvantage of not being split in multiple versions) and th other is sorted by company.
