I actually think iPhones are great. I had them from the 3G until the 5, and they were fine phones, with good battery life and plenty of performance. I really only switched to Android because I moved away from Apple products in general, and because I got bored of feeling like I was buying the same phone over and over again and wanted something different.
In a way, it's a scam because you pay more for similar hardware. But they win because of their software part. Shit balances itself out because iOS is optimized. There's a lot of fragmentation with Android and you can't pretend that janky ass cyanogenmod is going to take full advantage of the hardware on your phone when not even stock will.
iOS does more with less so it's basically like selling you an overpriced computer and putting an OS there that will be optimized for it--- oh wait

I've used an iPhone 5s for a few years then got an s6, so I have tried both worlds
The fact that I don't have to kill myself using iTunes to transfer music and stuff was already worth the change.
Android is not lagshit (at least at the same price point of iPhones)
Sure, iPhones are only dual core, but my 5s ran flawlessly. Just, for my use case, the flexibility to change the look and basic functionality of android (such as a file manager) is what enticed me to switch.
I realize /g/ neckbeards have never used an iPhone, but my stance is that they are both good for the use case, and that people should not bash either android or iPhones if they have not used both.

SD card slot does matter. Removable battery does matter (in Korea, phones come with a backup battery). Being able to take full control of a piece of hardware you own and modify the software it runs does matter. An iPhone can't do any of these things, plus more, but you see people drooling over them as if they give free rimjobs. They're not that good. Neither are most Android phones that good, but you don't have an entire cult of idiots fixating on a phone for several years at a time.
The phones are average. The only phone on the entire market right now that has come close to impressing me is the Zenfone 2 and that's ONLY BECAUSE x86, NO OTHER REASON.

Also, up until the 4s, it used the original iPod connection. It wasn't until 3 years ago that they changed the connector and they did so in a way that makes sure all of their line still retains a common port.
