There was a retarded "study" from a couple of years ago that made some idiotic claim about how the optimal position was being reclined slightly.

Here's the problem: THEY BASED IT ON RATED COMFORT. Fucking idiots! The VAST MAJORITY of people these days have shitty posture and forward head syndrome. OF FUCKING COURSE they find it "more comfortable" to be slouched back in their chair! That doesn't mean it's ergonomic and that it reduces the incidence of RSI or spinal issues.

The optimal position is whatever mimics your posture while walking. Guess what that means? Sitting very upright with your chin slightly tucked. Good luck accomplishing that with most shitty office chairs you'll ever come across in your lifetime.

Stretch your chest. Do door-leans (Google it, fagoot). Stretch your forearms. Stretch your wrists.

Now stretch your hands to the ceiling. Roll your head around a bit. Stand up straight and tuck your chin slightly. You should be able to put your ass and upper back against a wall and comfortably rest the back of your head on the wall WITHOUT ROTATING YOUR HEAD UPWARD/BACK.

Now go for a walk. Ten or fifteen minutes. Focus on posture when you start out and reassess every few minutes.

When you're done with this, THAT is how your back, neck, and head should be aligned.
