Even though Qt is technically superior to GTK, all the best themes are for GTK, and the average /g/ user cares more about themes than about anything else.

I like it. Works good on my old ass HP piece of crap. So does KDE Plasma, so does xfce. But Cinnamon didn't work out. VLC video playback was jerky. Deal breaker.
XFCE is just a pre-configured OpenBox suite. That's a good thing.

I just can't get used to how tiny it looks in comparison to the rest of the bar, yes, already googled it for hours.
I didn't like it. The main reason it that thunar, the default file manger has a bug that causes the image thumbnailing util to take up 80% of your ram. I think it was called tumbler or something.
Appearance-wise, I've seen one or two desktops that look good, the rest look ugly. I should add, this is the same with all DEs.
That being said it's the best DE I've used. But it still comes will pointless junk and is pretty shitty overall. That's all I can remember.

As far as I know, which is not that much - mind you, XFCE seems to treat the scaling different when you're loading an icon instead of a mere image, like an svg file.

I'm on xubuntu and maybe they've done some fuckery to make that show up but it's there for me.

I don't use XFCE, but I use Thunar with Openbox and I don't have this problem. You may be able to configure XFWM not to treat those windows differently. If not, the solution is to use a different WM. To its credit, XFCE is very good about working with alternatives to its default software, and replacing XFWM is easy.
