>be me
>makes PC with AMD A10-7850k
idle CPU temp is 80°C and over 100°C when gaming

What do?
>>
>>53849473
buy a graphics card and stop using an APU for gaming???
>>
Get a decent CPU cooler, you fag.

Alternatively, build a new Intel+NVidia machine for maximum housefire prevention.
>>
Should have got the 7860k with the new cooler.
>>
Acquire thermal paste. Inject into ballsack so that you cannot breed.
>>
>>53849473
I don't know how many times this needs to be stated.

Programs like HW monitor and sppedfan do not detect AMD temperatures correctly.
>>
>>53849552
They give incorrect idle readings, load temps aren't far off usually.
>>
Stop using speccy to read temps.
Use AMD Overdrive, its the only program with accurately reports AMD's thermal margin metric.

If you actually are having a temp problem, then go into BIOS and check what your vcore is set too. A lot of boards default to an inappropriately high voltage. Stock clocks only need 1.25v. If its north of 1.3v at stock clocks then it needs to be adjusted down.
>>
Did you not watch MSI's video to apply the thermal paste correctly?
>>

I tried but everytime I try to run overdrive my PC turns off
>>
>>53849617
>everytime I try to run overdrive my PC turns off
It gets even more retarded!
>>
I should have bought Intel CPU instead of listening to /g/...
>>
Try taking the plastic off your CPU before putting on the heatsink
>>
>>53849674
There was no plastic on the cooler nor the CPU
>>
They run hot but shouldn't be over 100°C.
Also pretty fucking retarded to buy an APU for gaming.

It's always double what it actually is. For serious.

I had a tight budget, APU seem like a good idea

Use this to read your temps and voltages.

I have renamed the default names of the readings.

vCPU is the current CPU voltage. This will change as the cpu goes from idle, to load, to turbo, and will be the only voltage within the range of 1.2v-1.45v

There may be multiple temperatures read from the motherboard. The highest temperature will probably be a thermistor placed in the CPU socket. With AMD CPU's this is usually what the manufacturer uses to read the CPU temperature. It will be different to the actual core temperature.

The CPU core temperature is the temperature read by the CPU thermal probe.
>>
>>53849799
>AMD CPUs actually idle at 80 degrees
please leave
>>
>>53849862
To add to this, the CPU temperature won't be far off from the socket temperature. Usually within 10'C, but in my experience, it's always a bit higher than the CPU temperature.

If the socket is reading 100'C, you're in the shit. If it's under 80'C, you're ok, but temps are still high.
>>
>>53849866
It's an APU, read the thread moron
>>
>>53850016
It's the same CPU architecture as the FX line with a few improvements and modifications, and a honking great graphics processor added to the die.
>>
>>53849473
>idle CPU temp is 80°C and over 100°C when gaming

No it isn't. Your chip would be dead if that were the case. AMD temperature sensors aren't supported correctly by the vast majority of programs past the Phenom II line. Speccy reports FX chips ridiculously low (<10 degrees) and APU ridiculously high (100+ degrees) for example.
>>
>>53850068
And FX are known for heat isssues, it was genius to add an even hotter Graphics proccessor.
>>
>>53849473
Turn up the speed of your case fans.

>what is snipping tool

The highlighted items are the ones relevant to your CPU. The one read by the motherboard is the CPU socket thermal probe, which is underneath the CPU.
The CPU is NOT at 100'C, it's more than likely at ~30-40'C

so pic related is bullshit?
>>
>>53850282
Yes. It's probably using "Temperature #3", which is the actual CPU thermal probe, but it's not beaing read correctly, and giving a false number.
>>
>>53850282
No it's correct. People will lie and say Specyy doesn't read AMD temps correctly
>>
>>53849473
Its an apu thing
They don't report proper temp

If its running around 80 its more than likely around 40
>>
>>53849473
Gammax 300 costs 10 dollars, even a poorfag can afford a decent cpu cooler.

Also reduce your overclock, what you on, 1.4v on the cpu?
>>
>>53850333
Read the thread
>>
>>53850282
How can there be a 50 degree difference between the cpu and gpu when they're literally on top of each other?
>>
>>53849491
OP should buy a 480
>>
>>53850282
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/A88XMPLUS/HelpDesk_Download/
Download "ASUS AI Suite 3 V1.01.31 for Windows Win10 64bit.", and install only the system monitoring tool. That will give you accurate temperatures.
>>
>>53850282
>>53850307
speccy doesn't read AMD APU/Athlon temps correctly
the only programs I know that read it correctly are lm-sensors
and AMD Overdrive
>>
>>53850362
this desu senpai
>>
>>53850404
As well as the motherboard manufacturer tools.
>>
>>53849491
Yes he should buy Intel Pentium 4 and Nvidia 480.
>>
>>53850137
What heat issues?

Fx was NEVER known for heat issues

You dolt
>>
>>53849473
boil some water to kill the germs.
>>
>>53850137
AMD actually did pretty good with fx coolers, 2 heatpipes, allowing for some oc headroom if you didn't mind the tiny fan spinning up like a jet engine under load.
>>
>>53850742
This. I managed a 4.2GHz OC on my 8320 on the stock cooler @75'C with prime95. That's pretty good for 1.4v on 8 cores.
Sounded like it was trying to fly though.
My NH-D9L works a charm though (stupid case sa 5mm off fitting an NH-U14S). In hindsight I should have got the NH-L12, as it would get airflow thorough the NB/HT heatsinks.
>>
>>53850282
70 is the point where that chip automatically shuts down to stop itself dying. It's literally impossible to be in Windows at 90, because it would have shut down 20 degrees ago if that temperature was accurate.
>>
>>53850907
70 is for intel CPU's
AMD goes to 85
>>
>>53849519
Underrated post
>>
>>53851019
Uh, no. The Tj Max on Intel CPUs is 100 degrees. It's 70 on the 7850K. It used to be 65 on the old Phenom IIs.
>>
>>53851242
Intel's actually go up to 105. The 4790K's Tj Max is 105.
>>
>>53851019
Ahhhh good old temp scare mongering.
Intel CPUs are good for 100c nowadays, that's what Intel sets as their max temp before throttling. That's why they put in a TJ max because that's what it's good for.

What are you talking about?
>>
>>53849473
Why don't you just buy a hyper 212 evo?

>>53849519
the new APUs are going to be a waste of money, generally it's best to buy an A8 7650/70K depending on price in the US at least, and only if your budget is like 300 bucks and you don't plan to upgrade your CPU any time soon
>>
>>53851341
Only when overclocked.
And saying the 9000 series was hot is like saying that the GTX Titan is hot.
If course it's hot, it's hot be design.
>>
>>53849473
That's pretty cold for AMD
>>
>>53851341
They're known for excessive power concumption, not necessarily excessive temperatures.
>>
>>53851341
8350 only consumed 125w, an Intel i7 was 95 or 120w when piledriver was released iirc, not sure which.
