Soldered the middle pins on every female connector on the hub board

They should already be shorted in chargers already. This tells the device that it's connected to a wall plug and not a pc. You should still just buy a good charger instead of doing this shit. Your phone should come with a good charger anyways.
>>
>>53840594
You're full of shit. Data pins should be grounded, not connected to each other. Fucking retards.
Enjoy your fried mobos
>>
>>53840467
Seems legit
>>
Why would you even want to do this? A slow charge helps the battery last longer, because it doesn't heat up as much.
>>
Some devices won't even charge if you just apply power and don't short the data pins. Shorting D+ and D- tells the device there won't be any communication.

So i soldered the middle pins of all of the female ports on the hub, but it still charges slow (500mah). It's connected to a 2.0A charger via the male usb. There's also a barrel connector on the board, but with it, it also charges just 500mah. THe charger also stays relatively cold, while when charging directly it gets warm

hah, it's something these chargers already do. i still would not recommend doing this yourself though, the charger is probably shit anyway if it can't charge quickly.

Bro those aren't the data pins.

Undo all your soldering immediately before plugging anything else in.

This is one of mine. Solder the 2 pins in the middle of the usb. The data + and -

Familia, is that OK?
>>
>>53841016
Much better.
But undo all your previous soldering just to be safe.

Then give it a test and enjoy rapid charging from an atx psu.

You got it hooked up to molex like I suggested?
>>
>>53841031
i haven't soldered anything else. the strange soldering on the grounds was there by default.

it's hooked up to a 2.0 phone charger. I don't have a better one. But shouldn't it still charge faster than 500mah, or the power is shared between all the ports ?
Also, instead of the atx psu, can I find a suitable wall warts for the barrel plug ? what should I look for.
>>
Why would you do this?
My chinese phone charges with 4.5Amperes and they've recently announced Super VOOC for their new phones to charge with a whole 10Amperes.
>>
>>53841068
You could always ask after a cheap high wattage 5v adapter in csg?

Is it currently charging slow still?
>>
>>53841096
It might be the cable you're using to connect it to the wallwart too btw

I have some laying around, might find something suitable before ordering.

Yes, it's still slow. I plugged my phone normally to charge it. So 5v, high wattage, thx!

my idea was originally pic related, but started playing with the old hub i have lying.

sure, pump fiddy watts into a 15Wh battery, seems like a great idea.

Oh, and you'll need this cable (pic related)

I'm pretty sure they just go to 9 or 12 volts these days when they need more power.

>tfw murricans are paying for twice the copper because they have 110v

kek
>>
>>53841138
Since you can't tell if your phone says ac or usb, I suggest using another cable to power the hub
>>
>>53841167
>sure, pump fiddy watts into a 15Wh battery,
It's working really well at 4.5Amperes on my phone. They advertise that it charges from 0 to 75% in 30 minutes, and it keeps that promise. Plug it in for 10 minutes and you get like 20% or more charge. I don't even charge my phone over night anymore, I just plug it in after I wake up and it's done charging after breakfast and shower.
As far as how I understood the technology, it doesn't actually charge at 4.5Amperes, but at 3 times 1.5 Amperes charging in parallel.
The battery seems to have 3 cells, there are 3 + and 3 - pins on the battery (8 pins total I think), and the micro USB also has 8 pins.
You can plug a normal micro USB cable in the phone just fine and it will charge at the normal speed. But the VOOC charger has 4 extra pins and it will charge at 4.5Amperes in total if you use that cable with the phone and battery.

Here's their article on the soon to be released Super VOOC, which states:
>In just 15 minutes, VOOC Flash Charge can bring a 2500mAh battery equipped OPPO smartphone to a full charge.
They've perfectly kept their promise before, so I believe them again this time. It's a legit and safe company.

this cable can't be changed ... ? or you mean the barrel plug cable ?
>>
>>53841230
>>53841167
pic related, with the Ampere app.
It doesn't show the whole 4.5Amperes because the current is higher at the beginning and then gradually falls off a little. Then at 90%, it will go back to normal charging speed at 2Amperes. They did this on purpose to further improve battery lifetime. I'm already at 50% in the pic, and it has an idle consumption of about 350mA when it's running.

>>53841309
And battery
>That steep as fuck "predicted charging slope"
so satisfying to see, every time
>>
>>53840467
Why would you do that if you can just use a wall charger to charge faster.
It also kills the battery faster if you charge faster so I don't get why you'd want to do that in the first place.
>>
>>53841322
i want to charge MORE devices with one charger.
>>
>>53841309
>>53841318
Also, I have the phone since 2 years now and the battery is still as good as it was in the beginning. It has a removable battery, so I could get a new one at any time, but its health is so good that I really don't have a need to. Even though I've only ever charged it with 4.5Amperes in all those 2 years and even left it charging for days without unplugging.
>>
>>53841373
That's pretty good actually, you'd think the quick charging would kill it, especially at this speed.

My LG G2 has survived 2 years as well (probably like 80+% of the original capacity). seems like lithium batteries are more durable than you'd think.
>>
Old hack, old news.
On some devices it only bumps it up to 500mA.
Still, some phones refuse to take more than 500 if they can't talk to the charger itself, so even if you just wire a female USB connector to a 5V 10A power supply it's still gonna charge slowly.

Everyone knows you just have to microwave your phone to get the fastest charge

i have an ikea charger with 3 usb ports:
max total load: 3400mA
max 2400mA per USB outlet

yet my htc m7 still charges (according to ampere) 330mA. what am i doing wrong?
>>
>>53841651
>i have an ikea charger with 3 usb ports:
>max total load: 3400mA
>max 2400mA per USB outlet
I have that one as well.
>>
>>53841419
If it charges at 330ma, it probably charges at 500mA and uses 170mA up when the screen is on and the phone is idling
>>
You guys are fucking retarded.
Wall chargers already have the pins shorted to tell the phone that it's just a charger and not a computer so the phone pulls more than 500mA.

You'll want to google up "trickle charge" and get pro. Related: "deep cycle" for rechargeable batteries.

Blasting shitloads of current into your battery & device is a fun way to degrade them two to three times faster than their performance specifications.

just strip the usb cable and plug it directly into the wall
