Why does Windows 10 supposedly so hated by people on /g/? I upgraded from Windows 7 and its pretty good. It feels faster, looks nicer, and is supported practically for life. Doesn't it also have native support for Ubuntu Linux now? I don't get what the big issue about spyware is, considering the fact that you can just disable the telemetry service.

I fully agree. Windows 10 is a lot faster than 7, 8, 8.1, or practically any older version of Windows for the matter. It's also pretty funny that so many people here supposedly hate it, but when you go into the ccleaner speccy threads almost all of them have screenshot of Windows 10.

I use it because my new-ish gaming laptop has it preinstalled. It is nothing special turn off alll the spyware shit and you are still connected to like 30 other ip's. Try to use a vpn and you tcp/ip stack gets a good ass fucking and the only way to reconnect without having to use the original ip is just say fuck it and reset it then restart your computer. I'm a seasoned computer engineer and certified sysadmin who has been using Microsoft Windows, dos, and linux since before many of you were even born. My 2 cents: Windows 10 is pretty decent minus a few extremely minor issues. Most of the "security experts" who whine about the so-called spyware have little actual understanding or clue about what is going on. Instead of falling for their paranoia, people should get themselves informed. There is no spyware in Windows 10. It would be against Microsoft's self-interest to "spy" on you and ruin their reputation. They only want to gather small amount of info about how you use your computer so they can improve their operating system, which was offered to most people completely free or charge btw.

They did like 1 year beta testing, and look what we got. A fucking mess with tons of hidden "telemetry" switches, unfinished and inconsistent UI, Windows update causes critical failures every 2 months. They don't give a fuck anymore, and I (as an experienced user) feel that I'm losing control over my system and data with Windows 10.
What if I parked outside of your house and stared at you through a pair of binoculars then at 3pm every day I would come up to your door, knock on it until you answer, say hi and quickly snap a photo, then leave? Simultaneously, I'm connected to your wifi (Wifi Sense is great) while collecting as much data on you as I can so that I can send it back to Microsoft who will then know more about you than you do.

If you install windows 10 enterprise, disable all services which are 100% used just for sending data, usage over microsoft also remove all useless apps and disable all resource consuming graphical settings - you end up with a modern OS that has as little processes up as possible in order to be 100% functional and also gets updated often + the huge library of quality software it has.

I also don`t know why some people (minority) don`t like Windows 10. All my family members and friends updated form 7 and 8 for free and like it. Windows 10 is great and fast and very secure. It is the last Microsoft OS so its obviously the best. And it has no spyware, and you can disable ads in the menu with one click! We enjoy Windows 10.

I tried windows 10 3 times since it was released. This weekend was my fourth time trying it out and everything was going OK until I tried to install a hard drive I bought off of eBay. The drive seemed defective already since it was making this revving and clicking noise repeatedly. Now windows 10 was stuck on a boot up screen that was doing automatic repairs. Google how to fix it, something about my SSD not being get or something and the mbr having issues. I've dealt with those issues before in the past but I couldn't fix it this time and now I'm in the process of reinstalling windows 10 and returning the drive.
Most of you would probably say that it was the drive but I'm not so sure. Once I had the drive hooked up, Windows boot up and was doing updates. I don't think I have automatic updates on at all and didn't confirm downloading any updates anyway. Either way I'll give windows 10 the benefit of doubt and say that HDD messed something up. Unlike previous attempts to use 10,it didn't have any bugs or glitches like before. No gpu driver crashes at all.
Unfortunately I'm still going to be stuck with 10 since I want to use the dx12 api for soon to be released games and dolphin emulator(huge boost in performance, able to go up to x6 res).

I posted this in another thread, but just to get my win10 to work properly it took 3 hours to configure exactly how I wanted it.
No windows update, no cortana, no store, hosts file blocking microcuck's servers and various ads, no internet explorer, no edge browser, not even calculator is left from the purge I did on my system.
Was it worth it? For games it definitely is. Anything else, I'd say stick with something else that's not Windows.
I do have to say that Windows 10 works wonderfully for eGPU set ups right out of the box. Optimus also works well after a recent Nvidia update.
I would not suggest anything but Enterprise version, or you are asking to get buttfucked by Microsoft.
