I find mobile OS tablets utterly useless for just about everything
I'm thinking of getting my first thinkpad for writing shit for school, and maybe hopping on tf2 and playing it a little bit sometimes. Also just something to mess around with, social media, browsing the internet and whatnot
I'm thinking of getting the x230, should I? Seems like the best bet for me. Small to carry in my backpack, HD4000 can handle tf2, i5 seems fast enough to do all those things, and it has a decent resolution screen.

i have x220 (one with different keyboard), but sweet jesus those keyboards are simply 10/10. Easily most comfortable laptop keyboard i've ever used in my life. I'm not sure how it will perform in games since only games i play on mine are old 2d point&click adventures and civ5, but when it comes to writing, this x220 keyboard is god tier. If x230 reviews aren't bitching too much about "keyboard downgrade", i guess new-modern-flat one should be similarly as good.

In generally the 3G cards in there aren't locked.
when it seems to be locked to verizon it seems to be loading the wrong firmware. Check the Gobi2000 page in the thinkpad wiki for details.

It took me a few minutes to get my 3g card working with the correct firmware (basically replacing the firmware files in the verizon folder with the ones I would like to be loaded and rebooting)
