Does Gnome have to install all those shitty games? Or does that come with Debian? Fuck all the bloat is annoying.

CDE

I don't think Ubuntu Gnome has all those games installed.
>>
>>53838028
I'm just trying out different distros at the moment, but Gnome seems so non-user-friendly. Only reason I'm sticking with it right now is because it seems to have the best support for High pixel density displays.

Nice!
>>
>>53837943
If you want a good OOTB experience, gnome or cinnamon are pretty good. If you like messing around with everything, xfce or KDE might suit you more.
>>
unless you know tiling DE's and like configs,
gnome best non-tiling manager rn.

used to use xfce but it's getting dated, future support looks optimistic
>>
aqua
>>
XFCE generally works, but is dated and might need applications from other DEs to have some fucking basic functionality like bluetooth

GNOME is a ricer's dream/nightmare. The defaults are godawful in a way that makes metro look good. If you change them, your changes will break once it updates, even if all you wanted was less than 100000px of padding on everything.

KDE is unstable.

>>53837996
CDE is unusable.
>>
>>53838330
CDE isn't for people switching to Linux because they hate Windows; it assumes you know Unix.
>>
>>53838430

kek
>>
>Tumbleweed
Assuming you're not using a toaster KDE is probably the best choice there.
>>
>>53837943
KDE, they have the best implementation of it.
>>
dont use a DE faggot, use a WM like OpenBox or Awesome and install what you want, it will look better, it will be little to no bloat, you can literally make it look like anything and more, WM is the only way to go, I usually compile my OS and install a WM after that for muh bleeding edge
>>
Tried out most of them, only usable ones I've found are Xfce, MATE, LXQt, i3 and Openbox (not DEs but work standalone). Xfce/Openbox in particular is fucking based
>>
>>53837943
Also KDE is trash on Tumbleweed, only ever usable on Leap. Why are you using Tumbleweed anyway?
>>
>>53837943
None Linux is used for servers mainly and should stay that way ( so no desktop environment to waste resources ) - you have os x or windows for daily usage or anything else.
>>
>>53837943
The default should always be xfce. The question should really be "What reason do I have to choose any DE other than xfce?"

Gnome can be nice if you get used to it's flow.

I refuse to use a DE that doesn't let you move the taskbar to the sides though. It's not even a taskbar actually. It doesn't do anything. It's just a bar that sits there eating up space. You can hide it but then you'd need an extra panel just for the time and notification area. The inertia of that bar really continues to baffle me.
You can try Budgie if you want a more functional bar in your Gnome, but it's buggy ruins the intended Gnome flow. Might aswell just use Cinnamon at that point. Not that i'd recommend it.

MATE or Trinity are the only options worth your time.

Cinnamon doesn't have vertical bars either.

Just stick to Xfce or MATE.

They all suck. Only sane option is to use your own WM and design your environment from scratch.

Other than that, go for Xfce. KDE is an ugly, broken, slow piece of shit turd. GNOME is an ugly, unfunctional, useless piece of shit turd.
>>
>>53841745
This is exactly why I stay away from KDE. Holy shit everything in that screenshot is ugly and unusable.
>>
>>53842023
>ugly and unusable.
Let's see yours.

Don't bother if you are using a bare WM
>>
>>53842023
Funny you should say that, considering KDE is the only Linux DE that's usable without replacing every single component of it
>>
>>53842100
He's probably a WM hipster. Disregard his (shit)post
>>
>>53841823
yeah, and neither does budgie.

I'm on Xfce, MATE does vertical bars really bad i think.
>>
>>53837991
You could just install gnome-shell if you wanted a bare DE. The gnome-extras package gives you the games.
>>
KDE is probably, but make sure you get a good distro for it. Some versions/installations have the stability of a tumblrtard in the SS, get one that works and it's the greatest thing you will ever use.

I use Debian Stable and it's okay. I'm waiting for KDE5 to stablise before jumping to it.

I love LXDE and look forward to trying LXQt.
As LXQt promises much more for a small size increase.
