i agree with >>53833546 i started with ubuntu and became well versed with it, then i went to archbang. i liked the AUR and pacman, so i tried to install arch itself. i can't get a fucking DE to install so i just dropped it and stuck with windows 7. when i jump into using linux again i think ill go with manjaro for le arch meme. Elementary is a shit tier distro. It's literally Ubuntu with slower updates and shiny DE filled with bugs and bad coding. I don't really get why people keep falling for it when the hype for it was literally over 1 month after it got released.
Install Xubuntu with arc theme and some nice icon set and you will have setup that looks better than this shit and is actually developed by competent people instead of a bunch of people who wanted to land apple job.

Never used any linux distro in my life and I decided to set an Arch in the past week and now it works flawlessly with awesome wm (After trying with a DE which I hated and i3 which was okay).
You just need to be diligent and read the wiki for any kind of trouble you may be getting.
