Hey /g/

Picked up some PoE injectors to power my Cisco Aironet 1142s. Having a bit of a problem getting to configuration. The console line won't respond. Also the NMAP shows the only open port is telnet, but no password is set 'password required but none set'. So I have no access to this guy at all. Any ciscofags have any ideas? I've already held the mode button down 5-10 secs.

>TLDR
>Cisco Aironet 1142
>DHCP configured thanks to router
>console line not working (using minicom)
>telnet port open but no passwd set

Am I straight fucked /g/?
>>
You sure your console cable works?
>>
>>53832563

I have a serial cable to usb that I have configured both my switch and router with. I plugged it into them both to test and I have access to router and switch just not the access point console line
>>
>>53832622
Idk m8 can you factory reset the thing when you're consoled in and see what comes up? Most Cisco stuff won't let you Telnet to it if there's no password configured, so you need to get into the console.
>>
A few things. The access point is flashing green red yellow slowly. Also will post pictures of console

Which LEDs are blinking each color?

It's trying to join a controller. That has nothing to do with you not being able to console into it, though.

What serial settings are you using?

Serial settings for minicom. I changed the hardware flow control from yes to no. Made no difference with either router and switch console connections or ap.
>>
I assume you've double-checked all the basic stuff, like using the correct serial device, having the correct rate and parity settings, etc. Does the access point show ANYTHING when you're consoled in and the unit is power cycled?

Nothing at all. I accidentally pressed a few buttons to make that question mark appear

Most modern devices work at 115200 8N1.
Also, try gtkterm. I had an old AT-8000S switch that wouldn't work with minicom but would on gtkterm.

Set baud rate to 115200. Got this from dmesg | grep tty

Apparently Cisco, in their infinite wisdom, decided to use a different console standard for some of their access points. This is for a slightly different model, but I believe it applies.
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/1300/installation/guide/1300hig6/130h_e.html

In other words, a regular rollover cable won't work.

Sorry I'm a little confused here. What will I need to make his work? Also, I'll try a different PoE. This is mine

So do I need a new cable?
>>
>>53833644
Buy a customizable DB9-RJ45 adapter and wire it according to the pinout on that page. Then connect it to the AP's console port with a regular Ethernet patch cable.
>>
>>53833982

Something like this?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Modular-Adapter-DB9-Female-to-RJ45-Gray/141890601269?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D36332%26meid%3D523e3a7090e1471f86c5a04d02d4ebb6%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D111942741114

Yeah. You can also pick them up in most computer shops that are worth a damn (meaning local mom and pop junk shops, not Best Buy).
>>

Thank you for all of your help. Have a great day
>>
>>53834128

Will said cord work with a db9 to usb connected to it?
>>
ciscofag back

Tried the pinout offered. Does not work
>>
You'll probably have to re-flash that thing from CAP to SAP in order to use it at home.
>>
>>53832482
I have one of these too, i tested it by connecting 44v to the power jack and using the web interface, although it was more complicated to set up then it should be. Is it worth using this instead of my routers built in WiFi? Internet is 50down 20 up, and current router is belkin share max running tomato. Should i use it or sell it for 10-15$?
