OOP is good because it gets me employed

It's an opinion on why it sucks. What else did you expect?
>>
>>53799069
Facts being presented. Guess I set my expectations too high though.

Hey guys, I have a great idea! Lets tie data and methods TOGETHER

functional programming currently considered patrician

but based smalltalk was goat once upon a time

I've seen this before. Basically this retard says: "Because schools teach people to use OOP in a retarded poo in the loo way, OOP is automatically bad regardless of how well someone uses it."
>>
>>53799048
Cancer of academia these days. Instead of pursuing and proving absolute facts, many of our language instructors claim it's more professional to use terms that express your belief and opinion.
Then again, they are humanities folk and we all know how great humanities is.

This. It obviously has a well deserved place in the programming world. But it also suffers from over-representation because marketers that tried meme-ing it up.
A paradigm is good when is streamlines the programming process and the resulting program does what you wanted it to do without problems.

>Conjecture, opinion
considering this is largely a subjective topic I'm not sure what else you would expect.
>>

How about facts?
>>

I know shit about programming, but I love to listen to someone who thinks he knows wtf he is talking about. Thanks OP!

>is OOP pure shit?
he doesn't say that. you did so your thread would get replies because somehow it feels good to make a thread that gets replies.

at the very most he says you shouldn't force yourself to do it when it isn't natural but that overall it's a good ideal.

encapsulation is and always will be a good ideal for any language, any technology really.

I can show you facts all day long, but that doesn't make "is oop shit?" an objective question.

It's impossible to prove and therefore impossible to discuss without opinion/conjecture.

I'm over it... who fucking cares. The end-user doesn't know or care if you wrote in VB, haskell or machine code and they don't care either - as long as it works.
