Why does everyone on /g/ seemingly hate Windows 10 so much? I genuinely think it's a good product. All the silly rumors about spyware/botnet are straight up lies created by idiot paranoids.
Windows 10 is the safest operating systsem on the market today, with features like smartscreen filter, applocker, cloud-based windows defender, and an improved updates system that ensures no computer stays unpatched and vulnerable.
Additionally, the whole telemetry paranoia is off the charts. They doesn't any personal info and it's only used to fix the bugs. Would you rather give one of the oldest and most reputable American software companies a small bit of info on how you use your computer, or would you rather help provide your entire identity and all your files to cybercriminals?
There is also a lots of other good improvements in Windows 10 like the new Edge Browser, built in appstore, memory compression, DirectX 12, and Cortana assistant. So many good things in Windows 10 but elitist idiots stick to 10 year old windows 7 saying its safer and better. LOL its 2016. Please tell me im not the only person here with even the slightest sense of rationality.

Second, every experience as a user of Win10 I've ever had has been abysmal, and the same could be said of almost anyone I know. Things DON'T FUCKIN WORK. Login issues, internet connectivity issues, UI issues, crashing, breaking programs, poor performance. I'd take the clunky as shit 8.1 over it any day of the week. It's that fuckin bad.
And it's UGLY. Ugly ugly ugly. It feels so minimum effort. The whole look and feel of the system is fucked beyond belief. And this is as a fan of Metro design.
Really, all the botnet crap is just icing on the shit cake- win10 is garbage, through and through.

What sort of specs?
8.1 is pretty much universally faster than 7, especially on boot times. It's also a bit lighter on RAM usage with some tricks like reusing identical memory pages when the same DLL is loaded into many processes.
I have heard that 10 is faster than 8.1 on modern systems, but I haven't seen it. Running in VMs on my Haswell i7 box, 8.1 outperforms 10, though this is often because 10 is too busy doing telemetry runs, checking for updates, cleaning up updates, etc. to do what I asked it to do very quickly. Running on a crappy old Vaio UX handheld with a Core Solo and 1 GB RAM, 7 runs alright, 8.1 runs better, and 10 kinda chokes if I ask it to do more than one thing at a time.

Windows 10 will have a slow ass boot time if you keep all of the bloatware apps on it. If you plan to install windows 10, uninstall all of the bundled apps you dont need and look up tutorials to some of the harder ones to remove *cough microsoft edge cough*. When I first installed windows 10 professional on my notebook it had like a 5 minute boot time. If I were you, I would just downgrade to 7.

orly? My Vaio UX has an SSD. I put it in because the 1.8" 40 GB HDD it came with made even XP quite painful. 7 most certainly still takes longer to boot from an SSD than 8.1. It's more visible on HDDs and slow machines with SSDs simply because shaving the same percent off a larger time makes a bigger difference to you.

Oh yeah, a caveat on 8.1 on the Vaio UX: If I touch Metro, 7 immediately becomes faster. Using the start screen search is painful. Press start and type. Twiddle thumbs while waiting for keystrokes to appear and then results. Finally press enter. 10's start menu search is similarly laggy on this machine.
Both 7's start menu and Classic Shell's both open, type and search about as quick as I've come to expect.
