Honestly, I have the backlighting turned off mostly, or at lowest brightness setting. I spent ~$50 on some pbt Vortex keycaps in ISO nordic layout, which I'm happy with. Advertised as black, but they're more a very dark grey - which is even better IMO. Goes amazingly with the case (which by the way is fucking delicious, it's top-tier plastic, goddamn it feels good), since the caps are just slightly lighter than the case.

Well, I bought the keycaps thinking they'd be completely black, but was pleasantly surprised that they were not completely black.
Also, the main reason is because I wanted pbt. Once you feel the difference between ABS (which the stock keycaps are made of) and PBT keycaps, you don't ever want to type on ABS again. ABS gets greasy, gets shiny and just feels bad and cheap. PBT literally doesn't get shiny, has great texture always, and are way more durable too.
Also, I ordered these keycaps mostly because it is literally the only fucking set of keycaps with legends in PBT plastic for ISO nordic layout. And not literally in the meme way, literally as in fucking literally. So I was lucky that they actually look and work really nicely. Just don't buy them from corus-kb's website.

The quickfire rapid-i comes in both ISO layout and ANSI layout. Layout is decided by the keyboard, since ISO has 1 more key than ANSI, so you can't just switch it around. But if you're in the US, you're gonna want ANSI.
Generally everything is in ANSI unless explicitly stating it's in ISO. Which is fucking dumb, but 'Murrica.

I bought a razer deathadder in 2012 and it has served me well. It does come this dumbass razer bloatware but it allows you to configure the dpi which is nice.
Microsofts intellimouse 1 is suppose to be one of the best fps mouses ever made and zowie attempts to emulate that from what I read. Microsoft does now have an intellimouse 3. Intellimouse 1.1 is like $20 on ebay.
A lot of mice are $40-60 so be prepared to save up. If you're into gaming get optical, if you're just dicking around you could probably find a cheaper

Got a magicforce coming in my direction, so I'll be replacing the kalih blues on that one with blacks and reds for the modifiers, maybe clears if I can find some good place for them.
The reds belong to a friend, but he put them in my custody since he can't really do anything with them. I'll be replacing the cherry reds on his pok3r together with the switches on my magicforce.
I've also got a split keyboard with RGB underlighting that you can adjust with potentiometers for each half planned. I'm not going to build that anytime soon, but I'm just collecting parts as time goes by since I'm not really in a hurry.
Will probably get a clueboard with matias QC next, I want to make a keyboard with an entirely translucent acrylic case and I also want to try out matias switches.

I still have the receipts. Each time they were out of stock on the old version they let me pay the difference in price (new price, no reduction because of age) and get the new one.
Currently sitting here with a Deathadder Chroma and they fucking paid me back $5 when I got it since it was actually cheaper than the previous. I don't even care about RGB lighting or the next extreme DPI setting they've added.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's a comfortable mouse with a good sensor, but damn, they break quickly. One just died out of nowhere, one had the scroll wheel stop registering and two started double clicking (commonly referred to as chattering when it's a keyboard switch). They just sat on my desk where I used them almost daily with no drops or spills.
