Windows 10 is actually pretty decent

So my computer decided to update on Windows 10 on its own. At first I was really pissed off, but after using it for 2 days, I actually start to really like my Windows 10 now. It looks a lot nicer than windows 7, it boots faster, and the new Windows updated automatically fixed all my drivers problems without me having to search for them on the internet. So why does /g/ hate 10 so much? I think its a lot nicer than 7 and definitely 8. I also heard they are now getting linux compatibility support. So what's the big deal with people not liking Windows 10? It's pretty darn good in my opinion.
>>
I agree with you. Windows 10 is pretty great and it's also a completely FREE upgrade. There's also now only a couple months left for the free upgrade so taking advantage of it right now is a no-brainer.
>>
>>53781023
That was a very Trump post:

I actually really like Windows 10. It looks a lot nicer than Windows 7. So why does /g/ hate 10 so much? I think it's a lot nicer than 7. So what's the big deal with people not liking 10?

Same thing stated many times over.

>answer: It is botnet
>>
I used it a few months ago (been away from Windows dince XP) and I'm wondering if there's anything someone can do to password protect system files. The same issue Windows has had since always afaik. Does such a thing exists?
>>
>>53781023
the HDD management and botnet are both downright awful, but outside of that it's ok
>>
>>53781023
Yeah Windows 10 is awesome. It's so much faster for me and it uses way less RAM. All the bullshit about spyware/botnet is pretty ironic too, when you consider how much new security improvements Windows 10 has.
>>
>>53781058
Which is weird, because 95% of them probably use smartphones which are much more "botnet" than Windows 10.
>>
>>53781023
Yeah I like Windows 10 too. Gaming is so much better on 10 compared to 7. Everything feels smoother and faster on 10.

Jesus christ you paranoids are getting ridiculous. There is no spyware or shilling in Windows 10. Even the possibility of a company as large as Microsoft doing something like this is nonexistent. Do you really think they would risk to advertise on some shitty image board and spy on your boring life?
>>

Windows 8.x was aweful but ill hand it to them 7 and 10 are great.

But 10 is just a little bit faster and more stable

>>
>>53781023
Agreed, don't know what all the mindless paranoid hate is about either. Do you people even know how much more attention to security and performance Microsoft put in Windows 10? Its so much more better and advanced than Windows 7/8/8.1. Windows 10 for life.
>>
i really don't understand why people have to argue about windows 10. if you like it, use it, and if you don't, don't, and if you're security-minded then don't use it for anything you don't want microsoft and friends to see, which could be everything or one thing. if you genuinely don't care whether microsoft sees your information then i see no reason to criticize you as a tech user. microsoft is a private company and so will never make it illegal to use a unix-like operating system.

Freetards like to shit on Windows in order to relieve their inferiority complex. Also muh botnet memes, which a at this point anons can't see the fucking difference from a botnet, a spyware, an adware, telemetry, and optional ads.

Windows 10 is fucking great, the best that Microsoft did in more than five years. This whole new ecosystem and now we have Ubuntu in it.

>So why does /g/ hate 10 so much?

1. driver issues, both hardware/oem and system drivers

2. telemetry phoning home on all versions to include ENT N LTSB without failure, after GPO update and maiming the os via deletion of removable modules

3. just like windows 8 was at launch the way the OS handles HDDs abuses the hardware into prefailure more readily.

4. while win+x is an option, having 2 control panels, and 20+ context menus is obnoxious.

5. due to point #2 one cannot in good faith without being criminally incompetent safely certify that machines with windows 10 deployed to them are a secure means for handling data such as PHI and PCI restricted information. especially considering that there is no way to audit what is actually being sent to the CDN servers that the operating system phones home to, conjecture does not count.

All the stuff people say about Microsoft blocking pirated software seems to be completely theoretical. Are there any accounts or evidence of that actually happening to anyone?

I believe they are able to do it, I'm not doubting you, just wondering how often it actually happens.

That issue had been addressed here numerous times. For fuck sake some anons can't understand how Windows works.

Windows uninstalled some programs when users upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 10 November Update (aka, SP1). Since this updated was actually a new version of Windows (just like moving from Windows 8 to 8.1) some drivers and software bad written couldn't be moved to the new system. This has happened in every upgrade of Windows, that's the common behaviour.

The problem was that Piriform, the dudes behind CCleaner and Speecy, didn't made their software to support Windows upgrades. It was, actually, Piriform fault for developing like shit. They fixed their software and now everything works just fine.

I know you're a shillbot but I'll bite

>So why does /g/ hate 10 so much?

It has soft bricked my HTPC 3 times. My disk usage is almost always at 100% despite trying multiple fixes.

I've lost hours worth of work due to forced unattended "upgrades" despite deferring them and scheduling them for different times. Granular control over updates has been removed, along with the addition of forced telemetry.

Visual Studio and SSMS crash, daily, despite working fine in windows 7. I've installed different video drivers to fix breaking issues, which were then overwritten. I've had updates uninstall software I've previously installed, without prompting me. Every single upgrade causes my file associations to reset, and re-installs 800mb of bloatware. Every upgrade re-installs Cortana, which then runs constantly wasting system resources until I break it to uninstall.

Despite my best efforts and spybot anti-beacon, it's still sending back 20 times as much telemetry as windows 7. Some of this telemetry is baked into explorer and system level services that cannot be turned off without a firewall router.

I've had to replace the start menu, task manager, calculator, and msconfig just to bring back functionality that existed in windows 7. I now require third party software to manage my telemetry. I now require additional software to manage drivers and updates. I now require third party software to monitor network traffic.

Disabling UAC no longer behaves the same way and breaking all UWP apps. The hosts file no longer blocks network all network traffic. Edge does not honor the hosts file and cannot even be firewalled directly.

The UI design beggars belief. The settings menu is a downgrade in every possible way and would fail a college level design course. The start menu no longer allows searching for exe's outside of the start folder. The OS ships with ads in the start menu and lock screen.
