Hi guys, I've been trying i3 for a while, and I made it work with i3-gaps. However, it gives me "you have and error in your i3 config file" when I add

gaps inner 7px
gaps outer 5px

How can I fix it? Otherwise, it is working. Thanks for taking your time.
>>
idolm@ster xenoglossia is really not so good and im not sure why i'm watching it except maybe stubbornness
>>
>>53780733
are you using airblader's i3-gaps fork on github? if not the gaps will not work and will just return an error.
If you're on arch you can just install it through AUR
>>
>>53780733
You probably didn't install i3-gaps correctly. Check it again to be sure. Dependencies as well

I'm not on arch, I'm using Void, and installed the version on the respositories. This is ther version what I have

i3 version 4.12 (2016-03-06, branch "4.12") @ 2009 Michael Stapelberg and contibutors

I'm still kinda new to i3-gaps, so sorry if I'm a little dense.

The only things I added beside the standard config file, pic related. I know I commeted 2 lines, the error is not there, is in the "gaps"

Currently using awesome, and to be honest I really don't like the tiling, I prefer the way i3 tiles though one thing that bothers me with i3 is that whenever I launch dmenu, the cursor switching to the loading icon then stays on that for about 2 minutes even after dmenu was closed or exited, might just uninstall dmenu and live without it becuase that really bothers me.

These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers for what? And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.

I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit. Where were you when he was 2? Where were you when he was 12? Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol? And where is the father? Or who is his father? -- bill cosby

If you are actually close enough at your monitor that you are seeing the difference you're destroying your neck and your back. PPI is a thing that is VERY dependant on viewing distance.

>>

If you do this and your viewing distance is optimal you see no difference. If you do, you're too close, or have a too bad PPI on one of your devices, but 2560x1440 on 27" is a pretty good sweet spot. (Well 25" is even a little better, but it's something inbetween those.)

It's a really simple test and you'll see the big difference between the two. Just do it.
You're arguing with someone who owns a high PPI laptop and a 2560x1440 monitor by the way. If I can see a massive difference between then you will be able to see a massive difference between your phone and whatever screen you have.

Should point out that Apple, for all intents and purposes the biggest tech company to obsess the fuck over how good a font looks (they REALLY want it to look 1:1 with print fonts) use 4k for their 21 inch imacs.

I can live with 1080p and a good font renderer, but if you can get high DPI and skip all of that shit then good on you honestly

>>
>>53788116
You're using a graph modeled for large screen TVs at across-the-room viewing distances. Ever hear of the term "model breakdown"? Not to mention it's from a home therater blog, so it's going to assume video and 10ft UIs, where resolution differences are less noticeable.

Here's some math
http://www.allaboutabundance.com/?p=1056
>In other words, the resolution required for a printed page or device to ensure that a normal human eye can’t see the dots is 11,450 pixels divided by the distance away it is (in inches).
>So this means:
>Pm = 11450/12 = 954 ppi (mobile device at 12 inches from the eye)
>Pl = 11450/18 = 636 ppi (laptop display at 18 inches from the eye)
>Pd = 11450/24 = 477 ppi (desktop display at 24 inches from the eye)
>Which is a lot more than what Apple says “retina” is!

The fact you won't even do the phone test I told you to says quite a bit as well.
>>
>>53788191
>You got shit eyesight
I know, but that's what I got my glasses for, duh.

>>53788367

For instance that Google logo would look better if it matched the gradient of your equalizer. And you should use shades of blue for your 4chan CSS in place of reds. Also icons to match the theme would do wonders.
