>10w pci card with a smartphone gpu destroying a 980 ti
What the fuck is happening to desktop computers?
>>53780301
>still image
Well.
>>53780301
>nvidia
Found the problem!
>>53780327
The fact that the 980 ti loses still says a lot
>>53780301
>Hurr durr I didnt know that a dedicated silicon can do things faster than a general purpose one
Remember GPU mining and Asic OP?
>>53780301
Wow the 980Ti looks way better. What's the shit on the right and why is it even trying?
>>53780361
Movement and physics still have to be calculated.
nvidia fags on suicide watch
Do you have a source for this, or is anon talking out of his ass as usual?

Apple wins again
Yes, GPUs are shit at ray tracing. Is this a surprise?
>>53780424
those reflections look like shit
>>53780518
You could just use an AMD processor
>>53780554
>>53780548
All real time reflections in current graphics look like shit.
>>53780301
Progress

>this lamborgini has better acceleration from 100-120 mph than lance armstrong
>this potato has fewer carbon emmisions than this hybrid engine
>this oven mit has better insulation than this tissue
>apples and oranges: the thread
>>53780301
You neglected to mention that it's not a smartphone GPU, it's a dedicated ray-tracing renderer that just has a similar architecture to smartphone SOCs.
They were also running different software on different operating systems; the 980Ti was on Windows with Blender and Cycles, and the Wizard was on Ubuntu running Resin and Brazil, which supposedly uses the same method for ray-tracing, but you'll have to take PowerVR's word for that.
So all in all, a purpose-built ray-tracer outpaced a purpose-built rasterizer in a ray-tracing task. I'm shocked.
>>53780804
What's shocking is the 10w of the ray tracer vs the 400w of the rasterizer
>>53780867
>purpose built things are more efficient
>this 'shocks' me
Neat opinion.
>>53780867
Would you be surprised that it takes a sports car more fuel to achieve lift than a light aircraft?
>>53780911
Yes.
>>53780971
Hold on to your fucking hat then, we're going for a ride:
It takes a sports car more fuel to achieve lift than a light aircraft.
You gullible-ass motherfuckers, it's almost April 1st.
>>53780424
PS2 Called it wants its graphics back.
>>53781002
I like you
Nvidiots on suicide watch
>>53780327
No shit you dip
>>53780301
>different GPU's good at different things
ever wonder why AMD GPU's are used for buttcoin mining and get superior rates than Nvidias?
>my E8500 has better single thread performance than your FX 8150.
>>53784558
>fx8150
Retard confirmed
If 1 + 1 = 2, why are some CPUs and GPUs better than others?
>>53784918
Because 2+2=4
>>53780911
>>53780971
>>53781002
I fucking died.
Give that man a cookie goddammit.
Who does this?
What's the appeal?
>>53780301
That thing on the left isn't raytraced.
That's Phong shading.
Bad Phong shading, at that.
The image is essentially just lying to you.
>>53780301
What is the card and where can I get it?
>>53785522
It comes included in your latest Chinese SoC.
Buy a chinese tablet or phone
>>53785561
No I miean the PCIe card
>>53785567
It's pci anon.
And I don't think it's out yet.
>>53785863
It's actually PCI? I just assumed that was a typo. That's even better
>>53785885
Just looked it up, it's pcie :(
>>53786105
Damn, I hope they come out with a half-height card
>>53786126
What would you use it for?
What's the advantage of ray tracing?
>>53784918
Because Brawndo's got electrolytes.
>>53786181
No clue, I just really want to toss one in my PowerMac G5
This is bullshit. Ray-tracing looks the same irrelevant on the GPU.
The only thing that will change is render speed.
