Why aren't you using Debian GNU/Linux?

What's the matter, ricers?
Too stable for you?
>>

>>
>>53772040
I really want to like debian, but stuff like not having sudo out of the box and having old packages, even in the testing branch makes it a no. I can't have it for more than a couple days without getting tired and change back to another distro. I could try Sid, but at that point it makes more sense to use a distro that was actually thought be a rolling release like gentoo or arch.

It's great for server stuff tough.

sudo can be installed out of the box with the expert installation, mate. And don't ever use developer branches like testing or unstable (sid) for your production environment. Either use backports for your beloved updated packages, or move to a different distribution entirely. Debian is not for everyone, which is fine.

You're right about one thing though.

Debian is not freetard approved.
Head freetard Richard Stallman hates debian simply because it allows you the option to install non-free software.
Debian went through great strides getting rid of all the proprietary blobs out of the kernel and into the non-free repo, which requires you to know about it by reading it on their wiki.

Simply having this wiki is enough to piss off stallman.
He's not worth pleasing.

Nah, the only reason people use it on servers is because it saves them from having to reconfigure their daemons every few months. There is no reason to use it on a desktop where new features are generally appreciated.

>Simply having this wiki is enough to piss off stallman.
Nope, hosting non-free repos (and installation images) then claiming it isn't an "official" part of Debian is pissing him off. Why would you expect the head of the FSF to endorse such a distro?

No, you're confusing unstable with stable[2].
>Debian Sid = Unstable
This one got right[3], but you missed testing[4] and experimental[5]. Besides, you're implying Sid is therefore stable, and this is where I draw the line.

Do not trick people into believing unstable (Sid) is stable, because it is, in fact[3], not. Do not ever rely on development repositories for production environments. If you miss your beloved more updated packages that much, use backports. If you can't deal with that, don't use Debian, because it's clearly not for you.

>>
>>53786738
Testing isn't stable. Testing is a development repository, which packages have gone through some preliminary testing, but are not deemed safe enough for stable.

I know you're a big fat troll, but stop this nonsense. Stable = stable and you shouldn't deviate from this for production environments.

Like I said, if you miss updated packages this much, use backports, or move to a different distribution.

Matter of fact, why don't you stick with Ubuntu, kid?

It was some weird driver issue. Without any drivers on Ubuntu I could close and open my monitor and the OS could actually 'hot plug' it back in.

If I installed any driver (including Noveau one), after powering the monitor on I'd get no signal to mini displayport.

It was really weird thing.

>>
>>53787507
Unplug and plug back in might be a momentarily fix every time I open the monitor, but that'd get annoying.

I remember reading that UEFI shouldn't have caused issues with Ubuntu installation, but I had to disable UEFI (a.k.a. enable CMS) to install it

I most likely fucked that up, but it wouldn't boot up from bootloader when I had compability support mode disabled, weird.

I loved both Ubuntu and Xubuntu, very fast installation, very easy to use and great settings panel compared to Wangblows, easy to find drivers from the Software Center - so much better than my current OS which is W10 Enterprise 64b.

By the time this blast from the past boots to desktop and gives you working graphics and power management, the bleeding edge probably doesn't even support your hardware anymore. Also, enjoy looking for new dev packages.

desu this is my impression and i'm left wing as fuck
focus on women's issues and minority issues over financial issues was the biggest mistake the left ever made.

SJWs strawman this position as thinking women/minorities should get no attention, which is even more infuriating. (since they will, for example, bring up a wage gap, then attack any policy that doesn't specifically mention the illusory wage gap even if both men and women would be better off.)

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as GNU/Linux or NSA/Windows, is in fact, Windows/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, Windows plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Windows system made useful by the NT corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by Microsoft. Many computer users run a modified version of the Windows system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Windows which is widely used today is often called “Windows/Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Windows system, developed by Microsoft. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. NT is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the Windows operating system: the whole system is basically Windows with Linux added, or Windows/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of Windows/Linux.
